Judge praises 'brave' burglar

http://www.metro.co.uk/news/910917-d...-courage-claim

Quote:

While sentencing Richard Rochford, Judge Peter Bowers told the 26-year-old: ‘It takes a huge amount of courage as far as I can see for somebody to burgle somebody’s house. I wouldn’t have the nerve.’
Quote:

Handing Rochford a suspended 12-month term, Judge Bowers told him: ‘I’m going to take a chance on you.'

He claimed prison ‘rarely does anybody any good’ but acknowledged the trauma inflicted on the 26-year-old’s victims.
I despair of our justice system, I really do. Some judges seem to have their heads well and truly planted in the clouds and I find it quite scary that such idiots can have so much power :/

I read this story last night. Absolutely disgraceful. It takes courage to steal?? wtf. It doesn't take courage, it just takes GREED.

A judge showing ADMIRATION for a theif. disgusting.

arista 06-09-2012 04:17 PM

That judge has been reported
And this morning on Daybreak ITV1HD
the PM
was not backing that judge at all
and is looking into this case.

MeMyselfAndI 06-09-2012 04:18 PM

It does take bravery & courage tbh

Niamh. 06-09-2012 04:19 PM

how do you figure? you have a very twisted definition of courage and bravery. It is absolutely COWARDLY to steal imo.

If they were BRAVE they would knock on the door and take it like a man, and give the person a chance to fightback and defend their own property.

It's COWARDLY to SNEAK around like RATS and steal when they think no one is looking.

MeMyselfAndI 06-09-2012 04:22 PM

My ex-best friend use to steal things all the time from houses & shops, I couldn't do that.. I'd be afraid of getting caught, so it is brave imo. The only thing I've ever stole is a bottle of coke.

It doesn't mean i agree with it fgs

I just think Brave is the wrong choice of word, Brave is usually associated with positive things

Yes Our PM Live
this morning on our TV
said just that
"Cowards"

lostalex 06-09-2012 04:46 PM

Well i dont think that politicians should be allowed to influence the courts, but i agree with your PM.

arista 06-09-2012 04:49 PM

Yes thats the Cocky Judge type thinking.

But the Leader of this Nation
is more important and can change more.

fruit_cake 06-09-2012 05:08 PM

What an astonishing thing to say. Seems as though the world has gone round the twist frankly

King Gizzard 06-09-2012 05:36 PM

and so hundreds of people will go take their chances and break into peoples houses tonight thinking that they'll get off with it for being brave

Kate! 06-09-2012 05:53 PM

 this Judge needs his knuckles well and truly rapped. What a ridiculous and irresponsible thing to say. Wonder how he'd feel should someone break into his house hmm.l

Kizzy 06-09-2012 05:57 PM

You're confusing bravery with audacity.

Pyramid* 06-09-2012 06:18 PM

Yet another 'fine' example of British Justice. Shocking.

Redway 06-09-2012 07:44 PM

What a stupid judge. :bored:

That's what I said when I heard this today, really the only word to descibe him I agree.

GypsyGoth 06-09-2012 08:30 PM

That judge is an asshole.

Livia 06-09-2012 10:10 PM

Judges show time and time again that a huge number of them are clueless about the lives of ordinary people and completely out of touch with the real world.

Gillian-73 07-09-2012 10:24 AM

What an idiot. He hasn't got a clue! Wonder if he'd be saying that if it was his house burgled, i think not!

Kizzy 07-09-2012 10:28 AM

I bet he is biting his tongue now...

From that
Quote:

"People sometimes say it is not a violent crime but, actually, if you've been burgled, you do feel it was violent, breaking into your home.

"That's why this government is actually changing the law to toughen the rules on self-defence towards burglars."
About bloody time. The 'reasonable force' rule should not apply when someone is trespassing on your property and stealing your stuff IMO. I hope they are scrapping that in the case of burglaries. Not that I would listen to it anyway if I discovered a burglar in my home, they deserve everything they get...if I get locked up for hurting them then so be it.

Kizzy 07-09-2012 12:24 PM

you are entitled to protect yourself as long as the force is proportionate to the threat as far as I can see..
