Credible Cardle strikes again!

Quote:

Since winning the X Factor in 2010, Matt Cardle had to watch on as third place runner's up One Direction took the world by storm, leaving him in their wake.

Matt's opinion on the X Factor has been well documented, taking every opportunity available to him to distance himself from the reality show.

Talking to The Mirror's Dean Piper today, Matt admitted that his initial record deal with Syco and Columbia was never going to work because unlike One Direction, he was far too independent.

He said: "I was never going to be your JLS or One Direction, where songs are written for them and you're a puppet."

"I was always a different guy. People behind the scenes knew I wasn't some puppet and I never felt like one."

When it emerged in the press that Matt had parted ways with the Sony label, people assumed it was because he had been dropped.

Matt however has set the record straight, saying that he had made the decision to leave.

He explained: "I was given the opportunity to stay at Sony, do some writing and 'see how it was going to go' or walk away and go it alone. And I chose to walk."

Matt's debut album 'Letters', although selling well, didn't even come close to surpassing the UK sales of Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction's albums.

The singer is adamant, however, that his album was not the flop people have made it out to be.

He stated: "With a major record label it works for some people and not for others. It did work for me initially and it's not like I sold 10 copies. I went platinum and sold over 300,000 copies. That's not a flop."

Everyone mentioned in the article are awful human beings ^

Me. I Am Salman 09-09-2012 01:51 PM

I'm not a fan of his music but he does have a point

MeMyselfAndI 09-09-2012 01:52 PM

Its actually sold under 300K to the public :elephant:

InOne 09-09-2012 01:55 PM

I made a thread on here years ago saying he would flop.

InOne is always right.

InOne is always right.

But he hasn't flopped InOne just because someone is not in the charts all the time does not make them a flop, his second album is due out soon, maybe you should take a listen before condemning people.

He has flopped though, InOne's right.

His first single charted at #6 which isn't great for an X Factor winner and then his second completely failed at #185 and his thread at #84. His album didn't sell 300k either, it shipped 300k.

fruit_cake 09-09-2012 03:15 PM

One Direction were always the best in that series

Jordan. 09-09-2012 03:26 PM

What did he think he was auditioning for

Stay writing your own flop songs Matt, it's fine by me.

Maia 09-09-2012 03:31 PM

As people have said he does have a point. Good guy really not being a sellout like JLS/One Direction.

Joelle. 09-09-2012 03:31 PM

He has a point about 1D and JLS, but he is clearly bitter about their success when he has got virtually nowhere. I don't see how he didn't realise he was destroying his 'credibility' the moment he applied to audition.

The only good thing to come out of that series was Rebecca and Wagner

How exactly has It taken him ages?

Mystic Mock 09-09-2012 03:51 PM

Aiden was always the better Indie singer that year.

But he does have a point but he does need to not come across so bitter about it, and also he flopped as soon as he slagged off TXF fans, a very stupid move.

Kazanne 09-09-2012 03:52 PM

Whether people call him a flop or not is irrelevent to people who like him,I wouldn't call him a flop as he is still producing albums and doing it his way, good on him, lots of musicians work for years without No 1s,etc,personly If I like the music I don't CARE how many 'top albums etc' anyone has had,why do some people love to diss people who are trying to do well in their craft, maybe it's because they are better!I also like 1D who's music is controlled by outsiders.Music is music and each to their own.

Joelle. 09-09-2012 03:54 PM

How exactly has he taken his time with his second album. Its released next month, just 12 months after Letters. If anything i'd say he's rushed it.

That's like saying Rihanna puts a lot of time and effort into her music.

Of course he's taken his time in the context of the songs could have been manufactured and written for him,he could have released several albums as others do ,some of the stuff for this album has taken well over a year,it's released on October 29th if you want to whizz off and buy it.:xyxwave:

I get what your saying Kazanne but he does seem to be bitter that his not been as big as he was told that he was going to be.

I don't believe everything that's written:joker:, I just remember when Aiden got eliminated he did think he owned the show and he told the public that Wagner should've gone proving that he couldn't keep his mouth shut, it's always been a problem for him sadly otherwise he could've been the first male X Factor winner to have done well.

fruit_cake 09-09-2012 04:10 PM

Seems to me that all Matt did was screech for 12 weeks. It was a mass halucination that he was actually talented imo

Joelle. 09-09-2012 04:13 PM

Oh and there were at least 6 or 7 people that year who should have won ahead of Matt.

Cherie 09-09-2012 04:30 PM

Fine be snobby about the X...but don't audition for it...win it (by people actually wasting their hard earned cash on voting for you), and then decide to be snobby... he comes across as a bit of a knob really.
