Every time the Muslims react this way, they just help the islamophobes make their case. Absolutely disgusting reaction from the muslims. No respect for freedom of speech or freedom of expression at all.

Yes thats something they do not want.

MTVN 12-09-2012 12:57 PM

And this is why it was stupid if us to rush into giving financial and military assistance to Libya's rebel militias

yea, it woulda been so much better to just let Ghaddafi kill thousands of his own people, most of whom just wanted democracy, and weren't islamic militants.

Supporting democracy doesn't mean you support everything that those groups believe. This is a Muslim problem all across the arab world, not just about the arab spring. Remebber the koran burning? remember the muhammed cartoons? This has nothing to do with the Libyan revolution or the arab spring. This is about Muslims everywhere thinking that violence is an appropriate response to free speech and free art.

And what about Rebel atrocities, what about the 300 bodies found in the mass grave by Sirte, what about all the black migrants in Libya shot or arrested for being "mercenaries" with no proof. Plus there's the fact the Rebels were completely fragmented, we had no idea about the nature of the opposition and since Gaddafi's death Libya has been in chaos with competing militias roaming around refusing to give up their weapons

Plus everyone talked about the threat if Gaddafi bombing Benghazi, well what the hell did NATO do to Sirte?

"most of whom just wanted democracy,"

Yes some said that.
But the leaders in charge have a mixture of muslim people
some want the old ways.

America and UK need to pull out of Libya
no more Ambassadors to be killed

MTVN 12-09-2012 01:18 PM

No it's not a "Muslim problem" it's an extremist problem, strange how we never hear these stories from countries like Indonesia isn't it?

can you provide a before picture? how do we know it didn't look like that for the past 50 years? These conflicts have been going on for centuries, since before the UNited states was even a country. we're not even 240 years old you know.

MTVN 12-09-2012 01:54 PM

Bin Laden was behind the Bali bombing I believe, Muslim country can be just as much victims of extremism as Western countries

And it obviously wasn't taken before, Sirte was a rich city which had had a lot of investment

That Muslims seem to think that some idiot making a film in his basement, or drawing a cartoon is more offensive to God than MURDERING people. That's what i'm saying, and that's a huge problem.

This isn't just a few nut jobs, these are crowds of thousands of people all around the muslim world. So no one can use the excuse "well it's not all muslims, it's just a tiny minority" those crowds were not just a few Muslim nut jobs, they were huge masses of Muslims. And this isn't an isolated incident, it happens over and over and over again whenever they get "offended".

It's insanity and it's a very serious problem within the Muslim culture.

If everytime the Christians in the US and western Europe rose up and behaved like this any time something offensive about Christians was said, can you imagine it? i can't, because it's so ridiculous.

Why is it only Muslims that react this way? It must be something cultural, and it's not okay.

It doesn't matter if its 1 muslim or 1,000 muslims you can't just blame the whole entire religion. I literally know like 50 muslims who are ashamed by the actions of the extremist. My sep father is muslim he works as a journalist for the bbc so I don't really think he is against freedom of speech :idc:.

Wildcat! 12-09-2012 07:59 PM

MTVN, I commend you on this thread. People need to realize, less than 5% of muslim, are belligerent, and would act violently, because they feel offended, or disrespected. Most will be offended, but shrug it off. The people that caused, know that there are that small percentage which will use it as an excuse to excercise their belligerent ways.

Why would you provoke these people at a time of unrest like right now? You putting innocent bystandards, in danger.
Its not about freedom of sppeech! I think you should always think of the impact, on others, not just you.
Anyone that does these kind of provocation, know exactly the impact, and are probably relishing in the chaos. Not outraged by the innocents, who got killed.

5% out of millions is A LOT of people though.

it is absolutely about freedom of speech. You don't have the right or the excuse to kill someone just because they say something offensive! No one should have to be afraid of being killed just for their speech or their ideas.

You should judge people based on what they DO, not what they say or think.

Speech and thought should never be illegal, no matter how offensive. and it's NEVER justified to take VIOLENT actions based on being offended.

Libyans in Benghazi took to the streets today to make it clear they do not condone the attack by militants on the U.S. consulate that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

Their signs were full of apology and support: ”Benghazi is against terrorism”; “Chris Stevens was a friend to all Libyans”; and ”No No No to Al Qaeda.”

Mohammed Magarief, Libya’s interim leader, said that the National Congress and the transitional government “condemn the criminal aggression,” and will make sure justice is served.

finally some logic. Cheers MTVN.

it's so easy to play the 'let's find a scapegoat' game, the scapegoats always being Muslims. Look at the two shooting incidents that happened in the US this summer.

Muslims are usually the Scapegoats?? LOL i think you'll find that it's usually the US that is the scapegoat, as your post and today's events prove.

Yeah, shame really as it might deter those who seem to think every muslim is the same, or say things like 'if they dont agree with what happened, why not protest' etc etc
