How old is too old?

I'm sick to death of my family telling me that my fiance is too old for me and that we shouldn't be engaged.

Age is just a number and and it's love that counts, as long as we are both happy that's all that matters.

Do you guys agree with me?

Whats the age difference?

the truth 18-09-2012 08:17 PM

I agree. people will judge you anyway. i dont theres such a thing as an age gap, although anna nicole smith took the mickey marrying a 90+ year old billionaire. older ladies with toy boys are cougars, old men with young brides are called anything from immature to perverted cradle snatchers. if its legal and both people are happy, then im happy for them.

CharlieO 18-09-2012 08:19 PM

The_truth please tell me you are a closeted gay male/female?

joeysteele 18-09-2012 08:20 PM

Yes, age to me is just a number, I have friends my age, 20 and juat a bit older that act more like 60.
I know people in their 70s and 80s who are far more young in their outlook than people under half their age too.
I love being with and talking to anyone regardless of age.

I just take people as they are, age has no relevance to me whatsoever, even when I see people young in relationships with much older people too.
If being with someone makes you happy or if someone makes you smile and is a good friend or is even just a really friendly interesting person to know then I don't think it matters one bit as to age.

Lee. 18-09-2012 08:20 PM

I think it totally depends on personalities.. I think I'm quite young and maybe a wee bit immature for my age so I cant see me having a lot in common with a man a lot older than me. I tend to get on with people my own age or even a bit younger.

What age is your fiance?

Ninastar 18-09-2012 08:21 PM

Id say for me, the oldest I'd go is 24/25

Adele Wigglesworthit 18-09-2012 08:23 PM

Wayne is a (young looking) 48 and I'm 27. I am very mature for my age though so I think it works

CharlieO 18-09-2012 08:25 PM

You can't be that mature for your age if you're asking for assurance about your imminent MARRIAGE on an internet forum

First and foremost I am mature for my age, and secondly I don't need your assurance or blessing!

Lee. 18-09-2012 08:30 PM

I actually don't think it'simportant as long as you love each other and trust each other... The only thing that does bother me in big age difference relationships is when kids come along.

I don't know your personal circumstances, you may not even want children, but just say you did? He's going to be about 70 when your kid is only 20....

Jake. 18-09-2012 08:33 PM

If you love eachother then there isn't a problem :pipe: and Charlie she was asking if we agree with her view, not asking for you to make her decisions.

That's different then... Ach, just go with the flow! There's not a lot you can do if you really love each other! Does he spend time with your family? Maybe if they grew to rather like him, they'd stop seeing age as an issue?

Well he's out of work at the moment and spends time down the pub enjoying himself. My family all accuse him of being a lazy bum and there's been quite a few heated arguments about it but I don't care what my family say. Waynes been working all his life and he has a right to enjoy himself for once. It's not like he's going to be out of work forever and we can cope on my wage in the mean while

GypsyGoth 18-09-2012 08:45 PM

You could go on Jeremy Kyle, he seems to be a good judge of this sort of thing.

InOne 18-09-2012 08:45 PM

Ah great, you've found the other sections :bored:

It begins...

Turned on Jezza Kyle and there was a typical JK guest with the same top on as me! :bawling:

Can you imagine the shame? Said top has been since binned :)

I think theres a LOT less stigma attached to an older bloke with a younger girl than the other way round.

I dont think age matters as such, though I would probably (rightly or wrongly) judge say...a 17 year old with a 70 year old.
