All-you-can-eat buffet bans two men for eating too much...

Two men have been banned from an all-you-can-eat buffet for eating too much food.

According to the Daily Mail, George Dalmon and Andy Miles were asked to leave Gobi Mongolian Barbecue Restaurant in Brighton over the amount of food they had eaten.

The pair reportedly paid around £12 each for their meals, but were asked to leave after they had eaten five bowls of stir fry.

Dalmon said that the restaurant's small bowl size meant he and Miles were forced to make return trips to the buffet on each visit, but they were eventually shown the door by managers.

"We have been eating there regularly for a couple of years but suddenly the owner came to our table and started going mental in front of the other customers," he said.

"He said we were eating him out of business and called us a couple of pigs. I asked if he was joking and he told us we were banned for life."

The manager, who asked not to be named, told the newspaper: "Basically these two guys just come in and pig out. I have put up with them for two years but have had enough.

"They spoil it for everyone else and are in such a hurry to get to the food so none of the other diners can get a look in.

"We are not a charity. We are a business. It is our restaurant and we can tell people not to come back if we want to."

 that's ridiculous.

I'd do them under the Trade Descriptions Act. "ALL YOU CAN EAT". Indeed.

Ithinkiloveyoutoo 03-10-2012 06:03 PM

Lol that's funny.

Exactly, Kate, if you don't literally mean ALL YOU CAN EAT, don't advertise that.

5 bowls of stirfry is way too much in an all you can eat restaurant?

I could kinda understand it if they had ate hundreds and hundreds of quid worth of food...but even then its all you can eat...but 5 bowls is not too over the top :bored:

Not on at all, if you advertise an 'all you can eat buffet' for a set price, it really shouldn't matter how much you consume.

Roy Mars III 03-10-2012 06:36 PM

should have to change their name tbh

bbfan1991 03-10-2012 06:40 PM

I do not know how they managed to consume all that food without feeling sick and plus having drinks too, well it would bloat me if I was in that situation which will never happen:joker:.

Whatt :suspect: I starve myself for thse things and go mental, I would want all I could get

thesheriff443 03-10-2012 06:47 PM

sounds like a pair of pigs to me.

I do this too, and still only usually manage to eat 2 plates :joker:

Surely the amount of people who eat less than they pay for is higher than those who manage to eat a little bit more than what they paid for... (and I dont think 5 bowls of stirfry from an all you can eat place that probably spends about 10p on ingrediants would even come to more than £12) so the small amount the restaurant could lose is more than covered anyway

sounds like you have lovely table manners.

thesheriff443 03-10-2012 06:54 PM

clearly these two would have eaten even more if they not been asked to leave.

Vicky. 03-10-2012 06:55 PM

Shouldnt be advertised as all you can eat then, when its clearly not true.

Hopefully they report the restaurant to trading standards or something :pipe:

there is eating and then there is eating like a pig
its like people at a free bar that drink so much they throw up beacuse its free.
this is a one sided thread!
if you own a business and someone came in and took the piss for two years im sure you would tell them to do one.

How are they taking the piss for 2 years by taking advantage of 'all you can eat'?

If the owner cant handle people maybe eating a bit more than their fair share, they should open a pay per meal restaurant instead.

im sure they do have set price meals
but its a fact of life that you get people taking the p*ss!

sounds like these 2 were banned from the restaurant for their behavior, not the amount they ate. The manager claims they were pushing and shoving others, and just being rude and uncivilized in general.

"The restaurant's owners said they were fed up with their lack of manners.

They accused the pair of pushing out other diners in their rush to get to the food.

Co-owner Peter Westgate said: "Like when the shark shuts its eyes before it feeds, they're like that. They just get to the buffet and whatever happens they just pile it in.

"They muck the buffet up for everyone, they push and shuffle people from the barbecue area and it's pretty sad really, because you can eat all you like over five-and-a-half hours - it's not an issue, you don't need to rush."

Well it cannot be an all you can eat buffet if people are expected to sort of abide by a fair share, that is not 'all you can eat' as a buffet, but an 'all we think you should eat' buffet.
Very different from the advertising slogan.

Jake. 04-10-2012 11:23 AM

Load of nonsense

lostalex 04-10-2012 12:07 PM

These guys were tossing old ladies around like rag dolls to get their grubby fingers on more mongolian BBQ.

Novo 04-10-2012 12:09 PM

sounds like the owner owes these two poor guys an apology

Marc 04-10-2012 12:12 PM
