The Plane Crash Ch4HD 9PM Thurs 11/10/12

Discovery Ch / Ch4
bought a £300,000 plane to crash in a remote area
of Mexico Desert.

"A Boeing 727 jet slams into the desert,
the front end breaks off and it grinds
to a halt in a cloud of dust.
But this is no terrible tragedy – it’s a £1million
TV experiment to discover whether a
passenger’s chance of surviving a crash
landing is determined by where they sit.
And the Channel 4 documentary
found those at the front in
first-class are more likely to die.

Dear me, another first for the 'no **** sherlock' school of crash testing.
Surely the impact of any crash would depend on which part of the plain hit first?

You pay extra, you die fastest :idc:

I'm 20 mins behind!

Marc 11-10-2012 08:28 PM

Oh god this is going to ruin flying for me, which already is very scary!

Marc 11-10-2012 08:44 PM

I can't believe they are remote controlling a plane!

Ithinkiloveyoutoo 11-10-2012 08:57 PM

Well i'm already afraid of flying so i'm not sure if this would help at all. I'm watching xfactor usa anyways so missed most of it

Tbh if you're falling from the skies then you should just expect to die, get over it and embrace it.

And if you survive.. Wheyy bonus

They should invest in parachutes

GypsyGoth 11-10-2012 09:33 PM

I've never heard of shockwaves caused by the crash before.

Smithy 11-10-2012 09:35 PM

so what they're basically saying is, if your plane crashes you better hope you sat in the right seat :nono:

billy123 12-10-2012 03:04 AM

You could go onto the c4 website beforehand and book yourself a ticket and choose where you wanted to sit and print out a ticket for that seat and then get a report after the crash telling you if you would have survived. I chose seat 33D at the back because ive never seen a plane reverse into a mountain.

WOOHOO i survived!!
Quote:

In seat 33D, it’s likely that you would have escaped injury in the crash impact. At the rear of the plane the impact forces were around half of those at the front, peaking at around 6g – six times the force of gravity. You would have only experienced forces similar to a hit on a fairground bumper car.

However, it’s likely you would have been disorientated in the dust kicked up during impact, and your evacuation would have been complicated by overhead panels and oxygen masks hanging from the ceiling in this area.

Never going to get first class tickets ;) rows 1-7 all died basically lol

really fun to watch the plane go down though
