X Factor 2012: James Arthur 'treated for panic attack' after collapsing backstage

X Factor star James Arthur was treated for a panic attack after collapsing last night.

The singer failed to join his fellow Boy category singers Jahmene Douglas and Rylan Clark on the Xtra Factor, with hosts Caroline Flack and Olly Murs saying he was feeling unwell.

James fell ill shortly after performing on the second live show this evening, and left the studio by ambulance.

Earlier in the evening, James wowed the judges with his performance of No More Drama by Mary J Blige.

Louis Walsh told him: “James that was powerful, emotional, you are a real artist, you’ve got real talent. With your voice, that could be a hit again, your version.”

Tulisa added: “James, you’ve got this pain in your voice, it’s like anything negative you’ve felt in your whole lie built up until that moment.

“I believe every single word you are singing, you’re my favourite boy by far!”

Speaking on the Xtra Factor, Olly reassured James’ fans: “James Arthur is feeling a little bit unwell, so he’s gone to see someone to make him feel better.”

A supposed show insider told The People: “James Arthur became unwell after his performance on the show last night. An ambulance was called as a precaution but he was not taken to hospital and he will appear on tonight’s show.

“The welfare of contestants is our key priority and we work with them to provide any support that is needed.”

James himself played won the situation, saying: “I had an anxiety attack last night, maybe because I gave everything i had to my performance.

“I feel loads better this morning after a good night’s sleep and I’m looking forward to tonight’s show – there’s no way I am missing it.”

The X Factor 2012 continues tonight at 8:00PM on ITV1 with the latest results show.

Last night saw the remaining contestants singing tracks with a love and heartbreak theme before the public voted once again.

Tonight’s show will see the second elimination of the series, as well as performances from US country star Taylor Swift and former X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson.

One is not surprised with the way he rattles himself on stage. Feel better James. And don't overdo it on stage, your voice is amazeballs.

He is, I find him really arrogant. Have you seen what he wrote about DS just because he got some negative comments? He'll never make it if he's that sensitive

Jordan. 14-10-2012 02:04 PM

Did he run out of Baby Ruth bars?

Alf 14-10-2012 02:46 PM

Oh yes, I'm sure that most people fake stressful chest pains and loss of breathe for a few votes :idc:

Absolutely agree, I think he's so overrated IMHO

Marc 15-10-2012 11:21 PM

He's fine now yay :)

Mystic Mock 15-10-2012 11:27 PM

Is it just me that thinks that the production told him to do it because he was struggling in the votes and they wanted to give him an extra boost?
