The X Factor USA isn't being axed - third season confirmed (Update)

"The X Factor" U.S. is headed for cancellation, according to many industry insiders. "The X Factor" executive producer Simon Cowell and his "X Factor" colleagues are no doubt furious or panicking about it, and the cancellation probably won't be officially decided until after the show's live episodes begin in November 2012, but the damage has been done.

There are many reasons for the downward spiral of "The X Factor" U.S., but Fox (the U.S. network for the show) has now made it abundantly clear that "The X Factor" U.S. is no longer a priority for the network because of the way Fox botched the new episode that was supposed to be televised in its entirety on October 17, 2012. (Click here for recap of the episode.) Fox announced that the two-hour episode has been rescheduled to be televised in its entirety on October 23, 2012 at 8 p.m. Eastern/Pacific Time.

Not surprisingly, Fox received many viewer complaints about this sudden programming change, but behind the scenes, perhaps the biggest complainer has been Cowell. After all, he has the most at stake (besides his ego and pride) over the failure of "The X Factor" U.S.

And make no mistake: Fox is now treating "The X Factor" U.S. as a big-time failure, not because it's the lowest-rated show on the network (because it isn't Fox's lowest-rated show) but because it's become a money pit for the network. Major League Baseball (MLB) on Fox makes millions more for Fox than "The X Factor" does, so it should come as no surprise that Fox will give MLB games priority over "The X Factor," even if it means interrupting "X Factor" episodes.

A massive embarrassment for Cowell given that he seriously expected it to get 20 million viewers

Atrocious. Now come back home where you belong and get rid of that mess Gary Barlow.

King Gizzard 19-10-2012 09:50 PM

maybe he can come back to UK XF :amazed:

Jordan. 19-10-2012 09:57 PM

Might as well, he's gone over there and failed and made ours flop in the process.

Saph 19-10-2012 10:00 PM

I hope he brings Britney over to XFUK

Brother Leon 19-10-2012 10:05 PM

UK will be canceled soon enough too.

Lasted long enough for him.

Benjamin 19-10-2012 10:28 PM

Yeah, I think the days of reality TV popstars is coming to a close. Nothing can last forever.

Black Dagger 19-10-2012 10:31 PM

BUT THIS IS AN AMAZING SERIES.

Urgh.

Locke. 19-10-2012 10:33 PM

A super panel of Simon, Louis, LA Reid, Nicole, and Cheryl for the UK next series then please

Maia 19-10-2012 10:36 PM

Hopefully the UK version is next

DanielLuis 19-10-2012 11:31 PM

I think its stupid that the x factor and american idol air in the same network with a difference of 20 days or something between one and the other.
Theres juts too many talent shows that are extremely alike, to be honest I dont know how they are still successful.

Locke. 19-10-2012 11:41 PM

It is all because of this tweet the show will get cancelled:

Nay ‏@NayKersh
FYI Twitter is better since I unfollowed XFactor fans. I can see more interesting tweets from @RealReeceShears @meellisday @OQuinnTerry #FF

Terry O'Quinn ‏@OQuinnTerry
@NayKersh yeah I kind of like "the voice" myself…… less cruelty, more compassion

This.

BBfanUSA 20-10-2012 01:23 AM

*rolls eyes* Fox would be stupid to do that. I bet Idol will flop and midway thru season 12 it will be canned and XFUS will replace it the next winter.

N though I like the voice they're stupid for having two seasons b2b. It'll hurt them in the long run barring finding a "Leona Lewis"

XF UK is far better without Cowell and the USA can keep LA Reid. My super panel would be Louis, Nicole, Sharon Osbourne and Robbie Williams.

GiRTh 20-10-2012 09:02 AM

Good. Now for the UK version.

Flamingjoe 20-10-2012 10:16 AM

 Fox cancel everything.

Marc 20-10-2012 10:24 AM

The panel is actually pretty good though lol

Niall 20-10-2012 10:28 AM

I'm not going to read the article but I also need to add this.

Before even The Voice was in the picture, NBC was the first to offer money for X Factor...which Simon should have accepted,
Despite NBC being the C5 of the USA (most NBC shows get 6-8 mil and they cancel half of them), The Voice is the most watched show on NBC with 14 mil which is miles better than any other show, that could've been X Factor.
There is for sure going to be a Season 3, 8-9 mil is stellar ratings. Just the show will go thru HUGE budget cuts barring the ratings going up sky high for the live shows which is unlikely because there's going to be a week break for WS. Britney will be "forced to quit", Demi will probably stay on because they got her for dirt cheap (1 Million) and most of the public loves her, LA Reid will stay on, Simon might stay on (as a Judge) and more than likely will. If not they will replace him with either Savan Kotecha (A Producer with Epic Records, the company the winner signs with, also a Vocal Coach) or Brian Friedman (He's the Choreographer for the US version). They will probably try finding a 2nd woman to fill out the panel if they can, I don't know who would be willing to do it for cheap though. A 3 person panel would be interesting to see.
A Businessman, Music Producer, and a Singer as the mentors. Maybe if they go in a direction where it's not about the judges more than the singers, they can possibly get the show to work. (The Voice has kinda made it about the judges just enough where I'm irritated and Idol is looking like that with the Nicki/Mariah thing)

And quite rightly as well, this year has been flawless and they haven't even started live shows yet.

Vanessa 22-10-2012 05:58 PM

X Factor USA rocks!
