A female student has sold her virginity for $780,000 (£485,000).

Catarina Migliorini, 20, previously stated that she was auctioning off her virginity to give money to underprivileged families in her home state of Santa Catarina in Brazil.

She told Folha newspaper at the time: "If you only do it once in your life then you are not a prostitute - just like if you take one amazing photograph, it does not automatically make you a photographer.

"The auction is just business. I'm a romantic girl at heart and believe in love, but this will make a big difference to my area."

A male from Japan who goes by the name 'Natsu' was the winning bidder.

In contrast, male virgin Alexander Stepanov could only sell his first time for $3,000 (£1,800) on the same Australian site Virgins Wanted.

The sexual encounters will take place on an aeroplane flying between Australia and the US to circumvent prostitution laws.

The winning bidders are prohibited from being drunk, kissing the virgin and using sex toys.

I think a lot of people on here will probably disagree with me, but I actually think this girl is doing a really good thing.

I think a lot of people's 'first times' were probably on a drunken night out, or hidden away in a car or something?
