How is Romney gaining women voters?

The gender gap was over 10% in favour of obama until the debates now its neck and neck

looking at the latest straw polls, of thousands of female voters it seems 39% think abortion is the biggest issue, then 19% think its the economy and 18% say its healthcare. so from that youd guess theyd back the democrats who support more clearly womens right to choose and also back healthcare for everyone.

yet romney is flip flopping on abortion, its a very messy issue
hes also promising to scrap obamacare

so I ask you , men and women, why do you think the gender gap is closing?

Im going to have a guess at this.

american women dont like being patronised and i fear thats what the obama ads are doing a bit in demonising romney too much, theyre overplaying their hand

despite these straw poll figures, Im pretty sure the economy and jobs is just as important to women as men. I also do believe the issue of abortion and healthcare are massively important to both sexes.

I also think american women are different to all women in all other countries.
american women are not necessarily more evolved, but certainly they live in the most dynamic richest most powerful economy the world has ever known.
with opportunities unimaginable years ago. theyre dynamic, positive, creative, ambitious people. theyre not simply living in fear of bad things, they attack life with a zest and optimism and dynamism you just dont seem to get in other nations.possibly austrlian women are the closest in their outlook. young vibrant optimistic nations at heart.

thats my theory. the women voters know all about the abortion and healthcare issues, but they dont want to be patronised. so obama needs to change the subject and discuss his overall vision and his plans to rebuild the economy further. I think obama can do this, but hes being wrongly advised to go too negative for too long. obama has plenty of positives and he needs to state his case now before its too late....go for it obama!

They always make the polls close but when the actual election happens Obama will beat Romney more than he did to McCain.

I honestly cannot see how he has any voters at all, nevermind women voters.

But 4 years of Failed Barack
in the Jobs front markets
means many do not want him.
Some places the Votes are level.

A Change can help.

I think jumping ship to romney at this stage would be a disaster

im no socialist Im middle of the road which is where I think obama is and todays jobs and economy figures are again encouraging, with growth at 2% all economic indicators are pointing in the right direction albeit at a sluggish pace, but still quicker than anything in europe...his plans to slash the debt through a combination of military cutbacks (hes out of 1 war, did a very economic job in libya and will be out of afghanist and by 2014, also nuclear cutbacks, the defence missile abandonment in europe ,this will save an estimated 2 trilion over the next few years) and waste (hes slashed several hundred thousand burocratic state jobs), jobs growth, better educated graduates, tigther import tariffs on chinsese goods, industrial and construction jobs, also the retail sector has grown substantially for the past 2 years....whilst the growth is driven by the middle classes, the dow jones is also at one of its highest levels for 6 years

obamas policies are all long term and make complete and utter common sense for the most part. hes also given taxbreaks for the middle class and sme's which is where the growth is heppenning and fining and regulating the banks and corporate giants far far far far more harshly than in europe. good on him. hes doing a great job imho

If McCain can rip Romney apart then im sure the President can, I honestly think the Republicans picked a bad candidate to take on Obama.

Is that overall or just women?

Niall 30-10-2012 07:41 PM

I don't understand why women would vote for a man that actually believes in the concept of 'legitimate rape'.

nicole_burks 30-10-2012 07:56 PM

One of my friends asked me yesterday who I was going to vote for.

I told him the Independent. I don't like Romney and I'm not fond of Obama either.

Independent all the way

maybe his good at that

conversation has in effect been illegalised in the UK. Any sentence is taken out of context , hyped up by a mindless hysterical media and the controversy usually results in people losing their jobs

I think american women think differently....whereas europe seems to have only 1 thought process on the issues of female health and abortion and thats simply its 100% up to women what they do with their bodies, regardless if theyre pregnant or not, although the line is drawn at 6 months at which point the child is said to be alive....the right wingers in the US are different to the UK right wing...whilst some rightwingers think even in rape women should have the child, some right wingers believe this but do not believe their views should be imposed on everyone else....romney the last ime I looked seemed to be strongly pro life with exceptions for rape , ill health and incest. but hes supposedly flip flopped on that so I dont know

Should men have any right to speak on this matter?

if for example your wife or girlfriend is pregnant and expecting a child , but if the relationship goes badly after 4 or 5 months and she says she wants an abortion and she abuses her body with drugs drink and smoking, what is the man meant to do? sit and watch as his child to be is aborted or damaged by drink, smoking and drugs

no thought or discussion seems to focus on the feelings of the father to be or the 5 month year old who is about to be damaged or killed off. any attempt to even discuss the matter is treated with utter contempt and hatred for all men and considered somehow chauvanistic and sexist...when in fact its nothing of the kind. the way its going its probably the reverse. childrens right to live is not even allowed to be discussed, nor even is the attempt to make these preganant women (and their partners) aware of all the options open to them

he's a ladies man.
