What's the scariest/spookiest thing that's ever happened to you?

..as Halloween approaches, it's the time for scary stories.. have you ever had any really scary experience..or has something ever happened to you that you just can't explain..?

When i was around 16, me and some of my friends were bored during the summer and decided to try out a Ouija board. So we went into this little abandoned caravan in a field and started. We were using a coin rather than a glass and it started moving, so we assumed one of us was pushing it so asked "the spirit" to move something to prove it was there and it said Yes so we asked will you move the pen it said no, we said will you move the matches it said no, then all of a sudden the whole Caravan shook, not a rocking that would happen if one of our friends were outside taking the piss, seriously shook, we could even feel rocks underneath hitting the end. No one believes me to this day apart from the people who were there.

was getting ready in the toilet then the lights turn out i could not turn the back on because i was in my boxer and socks so i could not turn it back on so i had to feel for my clothes

I believe you Niamh.

I messed around with some friends on a ouija board as a kid (early teens) and it freaked me out so much I never did it again. I felt physically sick after we did it, really ill and headachy, and so did the others. That night I went downstairs for a drink and opened the cupboard to get a glass. The glasses were right at the back of the cupboard so couldn't have been dislodged by me opening the door, and the glass we used flew out out the cupboard into midair, fell to the floor and smashed.

Never again!

Ammi 30-10-2012 12:48 PM

..I've always been too scared to mess with a Ouija board...it would worry me as to what would happen..that sounds terrifying..I would have slept with a baseball bat under my pillow ever since, if that happened to me....

..the only 'spirits' I've ever experimented with is once I went to a clairvoyent..and I was stunned by some of things she said..things she couldn't possibly have guessed...after that I would never visit anyone like that again....

..mind with some of the 'mind readers' now, I wonder if it was all a trick after all....

yeah, they're seriously creepy things, a few other weird things happened as well that time.

Here's a creepy story with a funny ending :

Me and Gav were lying in bed one night and suddenly we could hear really heavy breathing, it sounded like it was right in the room with us, we were really freaked out until I realized what it was. There's a field next to the house, the field is sloped so eventhough our bedroom is upstairs the field is almost level with it and we had a velux window over our bed (which was open as it was summer) and there were cows in the field at the time and that was the breathing noise.

Yeah, I've been to alot of fortune tellers, just for a laugh really but one of them told me something before it happened, right down to giving me the actual name of the person involved, absolutely no way she could have guessed any of what she said

My bedroom door keeps locking from the inside. I'm the only one who has a key and have often heard it lock I go unlock it and it locks again an hour later. had the door changed but it still happens so now I just ignore it :/

..ahh LOL..something similar happened to me once when I was a child...we were camping and there was a horse outside of the tent...well, there was about two hours of terror involved before we knew it was a horse..I think I was about 6 at the time..my brothers would have been 7 and 8..we clung to each other for dear life....

Oh that's creepy :/ Are you not scared? I think I'd be terrified by ghosts, although the first house I bought had belonged to an old couple who'd lived there all their lives, I can't explain it but I felt like there was some sort of presence in the house but I was never scared, it felt like a really good presence and the house always gave me a nice feeling

My dad passed away at home in 1996 myself mum and sister were there to say goodbye.
A week later we were sat in the same room as macmillan had called to collect the equipment. Mum started crying, the room was instantly full of a scent..
(I know this is reported often)
I couldn't describe it, it was like really really expensive perfume..
and very strong. We just stared at each other then as quick as it came it was gone.
It was the most comforting thing, and really helped us grieve.

..yeah, it freaked me out someone knowing some of the things she said...I think I'd rather just take things as they come and not know anything about the spirit world..

..I've often heard people say that the 'spirit' lingers for a few weeks or so after death....and yes, people do say it's comforting..

I swear to god that happened us this year after my brother passed, myself and his daughter were going through his things and got this really sweet smell pass over the room, it was gone a few seconds later, then it happened again a week later when my sister was beside me...

I know....it's just them making themselves feel better LOL

Kizzy 30-10-2012 01:07 PM

I feel sorry for my friends mum, we did ouija in her house all the time...We were into all that stuff, collecting epitaphs, scrying, automatic writing, candlemagic.. it was fun, scary.. but fun.

Ammi 30-10-2012 01:09 PM

..I watched a movie the other night..Red Lights..and I know it was just a movie but it put across a very good case that everything could be explained and there were no paranormal experiences...it was very interesting and it does make you wonder about all of these things...

That sounds interesting Ammi, I would consider myself to be pretty skeptical in general but there have been a few things I just couldn't explain that's not to say there isn't an explanation!

...well, these movies put a very clever slant on things..you come away thinking..'AHAA..that's how it's done..'...then you find an old dead woman looking down on you from the top of the stairs....
