actually, We're bilingual. I know a bunch of people here that speak Spanish and English and it's not because of illegals ,there are actually a huge influx of immigrants that are coming to the states that are speaking Spanish.

PR's Languages are Spanish and English. And in areas where it's very common to speak Spanish ballots are available in Spanish.

There's even a few Spanish Speaking Stations that broadcast nationwide that are based in America. Telemundo and Univision for example.

Puerto Rico is a unincorporated territory of the USA. Basically they're not independent, and they are kind of state of the USA already, but not exactly that.
I'd say with that referendum they will probably become a full state. I mean, 60 something percent of the population voted on becoming the 51st state, while 5% voted on full independence from the USA...

And Florida.

On topic though, this is quite cool. It'll be weird to think of the US as having 51 states rather than 50 though.

Nope Iowa. I can understand a bit of spanish but I am horrible at speaking it in my opinion.

But I've taken US History courses and social study courses and we've talked about PR in my spanish classes as well before. (It's required in the US in most HS that you have to learn another language most students choose Spanish.)

But It may not be happening, they've supposedly electing a Governor against joining the US fully. Right now it's a Territory.
