A high-powered city banker has filed for divorce after her husband refused to recreate scenes from Fifty Shades of Grey.

The 41-year-old was inspired by EL James' erotic bestseller and decided to use it to spice up her sex life, but her partner was not interested.

In the case filed at the High Court, the wife referred to the book and argued that her husband's lack of adventure and 'boring attitude to sex' was evidence of 'unreasonable behaviour'.

Her solicitor Amanda McAlister said that she believes the case is the first where the book has been cited in a divorce.

She told The Daily Mail: "There has been a real shift in sexual attitudes. It used to be the men who complained they weren't getting enough nookie in the bedroom.

"But now, it's the women who are calling their husbands boring after reading books like Fifty Shades."

The woman's husband, who blames the book on their split, has admitted 'unreasonable behaviour' so the divorce can be settled without a contested hearing in which his low libido may be discussed in court.

James' bestseller tells the story of naive literature student Anastasia Steele and her sadomasochistic affair with billionaire Christian Grey, and has sold more than 60 million copies worldwide.
