Asda Asks For Your Sexual Preference When Applying For a Job

:joker: noticed today when I applied for one!

King Gizzard 12-11-2012 09:33 PM

I highly doubt it that's against the law, you sure you read it right :suspect:

GypsyGoth 12-11-2012 09:33 PM

I didn't think they were allowed to do that.

Jake. 12-11-2012 09:34 PM

Yeah it was on the website, no lie :joker:

Marcus. 12-11-2012 09:34 PM

yeah the red cross did as well

Ninastar 12-11-2012 09:35 PM

yeah when I applied at a supermarket, it asked what my sexuality was and I put 'would rather not say' or something

Jake. 12-11-2012 09:35 PM

With the options being gay/homosexual, bisexual, lesbian and hetrosexual, or I'd rather not say, I doubt I read it wrong

Was it not the equal opportunities part of the form? Most applications include that sort of thing now?

Jake. 12-11-2012 09:40 PM

Might have been, it just made me laugh!

Yup. I always wonder why they ask though, I mean, if it doesnt make a difference, why do they need to know :suspect:

Same with them asking for your race/religion

I think it askes on most forms.. they say its only for the equal opportunities thing but its obviously just so they can find stuff out about you

Livia 13-11-2012 09:21 AM

You don't have to give that information, just like you don't have to say what your ethnic origin is.

Kizzy 13-11-2012 10:14 AM

Hey that could be a way in...
if they are under represented by a minority group say you are one...
You may get an interview if you say you're a buddist transgendered dwarf new age traveller with dyslexia?...It's worth a shot haha!

A lot of jobs actually do.

I'm pretty sure everyone I've applied for has.

Black Dagger 13-11-2012 11:25 AM

Every job I have applied for asks that question... I didn't think it was anything new.

Jake. 13-11-2012 11:32 AM

Omg this survey at college asked the same question and then asked if I am planning on having gender reassignment in the future :joker:

That's mad isn't it. Especially as you're not allowed to ask a woman if she plans on having a family.

Jake. 13-11-2012 11:38 AM

I answered unsure, I like to keep my options open

Livia 13-11-2012 11:44 AM

Jake. 13-11-2012 11:45 AM
