Favourite GCSE books?
What books did you enjoy reading the most during GCSE English? To Kill A Mockingbird? An Inspector Calls? Pride and Prejudice ... etc?
None tbh, studied 3 and got an A* but i didn't enjoy them aha, enjoying the books at AS though
Can only really remember Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha and that was ok but not great. Enjoyed Northanger Abbey & For Whom the Bell Tolls for A Level though

Mhm i did An Inspector calls, Mice and Men and Animal Farm

Of Mice and Men
At GCSE we did Of Mice And Men which I hated. I enjoyed some of the books at AS ENglish though. :)
We've only done Of Mice And Men so far. We've got An Inspector Calls and Heroes to do.
We did Frankenstein and Of Mice and Men. I didn't like Frankenstein that much at all, but I like Of Mice and Men a lot.
We did Macbeth, Lord of the Flies and some poetry... didn't really study anything substantial until A Level, where we did Howards End, Hard Times, Translations, Henry V and some play about Aborigines and convicts in Australia that I forget the name of.
Liked all of them really except Hard Times. |
I liked Of Mice and Men.
did anyone read the play a view from the bridge? I really liked it
Our Country's Good! that was the name of the play.
We did Of Mice & Men in Yr 9, An Inspector Calls in Year 10 and Great Expectations & Macbeth in Yr 11, for English Lang and English Lit
For A-Level, Catcher In The Rye & The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Catcher In The Rye  |
I did Romeo and Juliet in Year 10, was in the third set and the top two got jealous because they had to do the hardest one which was Much Ado About Nothing:devil:.
We read Of mice and Men
Don't think we read any, only had an ''anthology'' full of loads of stupid poems
''what does it mean to be ...HALF CAST standing on one leg'' blah blah blah |

Oh I did do Macbeth for my Shakespeare English coursework, and we studied Blood Brothers for our modern day play coursework.
We did Maya Angelou's "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" which I thoroughly enjoyed reading and studying, for our year 10 exam, and then Macbeth for a controlled assessment. This year we're doing Lord of the Flies, which I love too.
We studied Roald Dahls dark short stories,'The landlady', 'Lamb to the slaughter' and others...they were just brilliant.
Oh and we've done Romeo and Juliet for a Coursework piece.
I remember doing "Private Peaceful" in Year 9 and this year (10) I am doing Of Mice and Men in January! :D
