Could you be as brave as this Woman?

A woman who managed to convince a man not to kill her by pretending to enjoy the abuse and making him think she actually liked him.

The story starts around 25 seconds in and lasts 15 mins, it's her telling it http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0112t40

I think, in that situation I would do exactly that. That said you never really know until it happens to you :/

InOne 06-12-2012 10:18 PM

It's interesting after all that she's still against the death penalty as well

Munchkins 06-12-2012 10:39 PM

I understand her not wanting the death penalty,, its the easy way out, you should be locked in a room for life with just gruel and water.. thats real punishment

Is it?
I think I would be too, to be controlled for the rest of his life would be more of a punishment to this man.

Yes it is. If you listened to the thing she said she didn't speak out until now because all the other victims families wanted the Death Penalty

King Gizzard 06-12-2012 10:47 PM

death penalty is the biggest pile of tosh anyway

What's that got to do with my opinion?

Because you asked if it was interesting, and I said yes. As it opens up the debate of what would you want to happen to a person if they did that to you.

She does have a point saying we don't rape rapists and burn the houses of arsonists so the whole "eye for an eye" is quite warped.

Yeah I thought that was a good point too, I've never really thought about it from that angle.

Me neither, it is an interesting way to see it though

King Gizzard 06-12-2012 11:18 PM

You offer alot of (sane) killers who were on life sentences and they would snap your hands off if they had a chance of the death penalty

Easy way out.

Ah,I questioned that as I'm guessing she was against the death penalty before, and understand why she would be after the ordeal too.

Livia 06-12-2012 11:32 PM

She was brave, I guess you do what you have to do in the fight for self-preservation. I find it interesting though, that the families of the five women he murdered want him dead. If he'd killed someone close to me, I'd want him off the earth for good.

Mystic Mock 07-12-2012 12:00 AM

Murdering psycho's like this is the best way to go as some nutjob in the Governments could set him loose and he could start hurting other women.

InOne 07-12-2012 12:04 AM

He had something like 50 odd years before he got the death penatly, he wouldn't have been going anywhere. Plus he was a serial killer so as high risk as they come

Mystic Mock 07-12-2012 12:08 AM

I understand what you're saying Scrooge but your thinking of how it is at the moment, any country can have a nutty leader and if that happened in America they could easily let serial killers out, thankfully this bastard got what he deserved though as he killed people and done my personal worst crime in sex crimes.

Marsh. 07-12-2012 12:09 AM

What kind of country would elect someone who would free all their serial killers? :suspect:

Nutjobs only reveal themselves as crazy after being elected and the public can't vote them out, Hitler being a prime example.

InOne 07-12-2012 12:13 AM

They love punishment in America, they sometimes cheer and party if it's a notorious killer. And plus it doesn't work like that, the President couldn't wake up one day and suddenly decide to let all the killers go lol

Shaun 07-12-2012 12:24 AM

[not a woman obviously but still throwing my two cents in]

I'd find it ridiculously difficult to pretend to enjoy the abuse... and at the end of the day he could have just killed her anyway, so something makes me think he wasn't intending to kill her. But it's a fantastic story of valiance though, and the fact she's anti-death penalty is amazing. Wonderful woman

Things always change, especially a country's laws and systems.

I personally would rather they get the death penalty than the alternative option which is to let them back out on the streets because the prisons are overcrowded.

Same here, in fact I would probably get myself killed in those situations as I would fight back.

For people like that of that risk it's either death or prison for the rest of their life. Even if the prisons were overcrowded they wouldn't be the ones getting let out.
