De friended.. :(

You notice you have been de friended, do you..
ask why?
get very offended/hurt?
get very angry/vengeful?
not care at all?

LemonJam 14-12-2012 12:50 AM

don't care. they're obviously not worth my time if they don't feel I'm worth theirs.

Z 14-12-2012 12:57 AM

I don't care, because I regularly de-friend people. For me anyway, it's never done in a personal, spiteful way, it's more because I'm very paranoid about my online privacy and if I notice my friend count is creeping way up, I'll prune it back down again. At the moment I'm on around 250-260 people I think, it's an alright number, I'll probably delete more people again in the new year.

My general rules of thumb are:
1) would I stop to talk to them in the street and tell them anything about my life? If no, why are they on my Facebook where they can find out that kind of information anyway?
2) have I seen them in, say, the last year? If not, do I plan to see them when we can next conveniently do so? If not, bye bye.
3) are they massively irritating on Facebook? If yes, bye bye.

Shaun 14-12-2012 12:57 AM

generally when it happens it's people I knew in high school and no longer talk to, so I'm not bothered

There was one time a close friend did it and I was a little confused and hurt, and in the end it was because our friendship circle at school was sort-of split into two, and I was torn between them. I prefer hanging around with the group he's in, though, and last year when we met up for Christmas he apologised to me in advance and sent me a really sweet message, and we're good friends again. We just didn't speak about it before because we're on opposite sides of the country.

MTVN 14-12-2012 01:02 AM

Happened to me a couple of times when people have done purges of their friend lists, wasn't too bothered because I've never known them that well but in general I think it's a pretty rude thing to do tbh

Ramsay 14-12-2012 01:05 AM

Been de friended and even completely blocked for no reason whatsoever a few times
Maybe its because of some drunken incidents that i have no recollection of lol

King Gizzard 14-12-2012 01:12 AM

more offended when people i know unfollow me on twitter tbh

Benjamin 14-12-2012 01:27 AM

I don't defriend anyone unless they really annoy me with FB updates or invites, then they get deleted. I keep all the people I meet as I travel a lot and may need to use them for contacts/a place to crash when in their country.

Niamh. 14-12-2012 08:59 AM

Meh doesn't really bother me, I do ****** all on FB anymore anyway, so I don't think I'd even notice if someone defriended me

Apple202 14-12-2012 09:08 AM

Don't care at all

lily. 14-12-2012 09:10 AM

I don't have Facebook, but I wouldn't care unless it was someone I considered a proper friend and spent time with outside of FB. In that case, I'd ask them wtf they were playing at. Seems to me that the majority of people's FB friends are just casual acquaintances anyway.

Ohhhhhhhh  I wouldn't even notice tbh, I have no idea who I'm friends with and who I'm not on here

Suze 14-12-2012 10:05 AM

:o *Runs to check friends list on Tibbs*

If you have a big Tibbs friends list, how would you know though? would it say who de-friended you?

Jake. 14-12-2012 10:05 AM

I've only got 9 friends on here so I think I'd notice

Vicky. 14-12-2012 10:08 AM

I havent ever noticed that I have been de-friended, though I dont doubt its happened a few times. I wouldnt care tbh.

Yeah, I have eight, and one only very irritating ignore :D but those with loads of Tibbs friends in their list, would they notice? must go check if anywhere in friends list tells you if you have been de-friended though :(

Kizzy 14-12-2012 10:12 AM

Well I can't say how I knew without giving away who it was,
friend requests on their way for jake and suze :)

Jesus. 14-12-2012 10:18 AM

I'm guessing whomever it is, knows this thread is about them.

You should probably PM them and ask them, as you've obviously noticed the issue and are left wondering.

Nothing wrong with asking someone a question.

Niamh. 14-12-2012 10:20 AM

It would actually never even occur to me to de friend someone on here

Jesus. 14-12-2012 10:24 AM

It would never occur to me to ask someone to be my friend on here, to be honest.
