It's absolutely disgusting, honestly, the families of those victims are going through enough already obviously, I don't even know what to say about this, it just sickens me. They have gone too far, honestly..

...I'm finding it hard to read any of the Westboro Baptist stuff...they're so full of hatred...and I just find it staggering that people think like that...let alone follow a 'religion' that supports it...but you said it all...sickening...

..would they 'celebrate' this happening to their own children and families...yes, they probably would, they're so misguided and hateful....

Thus giving them more airtime and headlines..I don't know why the press and media give them the platform

...and they get the 'platform' because hate sells in the media..as it does on the internet...when people talk about punishments and debate death penalties...although Lanza is dead and beyond any punishment..he was probably quite 'sick' and in much need of help..so I still don't condone that....whereas these people are disgusting and hateful...misguided ****s..!!!!!....and the tragedy with them is that they're free to breed....therefore condemning more innocents into their hatred......killing the minds and hearts of children.....

I actually found that facebook page in the first post from their personal details being posted somewhere else. o.o Anyway, it does appear that Shirley's facebook has been hacked since then, which she deserves.

People're wising up to them - there was a story somewhere, I think Stu posted it on Facebook, the 26 stories to restore your faith in humanity this year - where people learned of WBC plans to picket a soldier's funeral, and they formed a human chain around the entrance to the cemetery... it was really sweet, and such a simple and peaceful solution.

Obviously not reporting their hateful attention-seeking would be preferable.

I honestly think something needs to be done about that "church" though, it's absolutely disgusting.

There's a bunch of bikers called The Patriot Guard Riders, who show up to funerals on the families behalf, to keep Westboro away.

I didn't know about those guys at all, I really respect what they do, hope has been restored.

If i was a part of those family's and they started protesting at the funeral i would not hesitate to beat the **** out of them

There is a believe though that God will allow disasters against his people and use ungodly nations to do it, to punish them for their disobedience.

This happened in the Old Testament with regards to Israel and Judah, when they were invaded by the Assyrian's and then the Babylonians.

I am also reading a book published in the 1990's or 1980's about the book of Revelation, which puts the case it is a prophecy about the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD by the Romans under Titus. The view is that God's people sinned and so they were to be punished.

However by then it was the Christians who were now in favour with God and they got out before it happened.

What we see now is that many evangelicals hold that because national government is bringing in laws contrary to the teaching of the Bible then he is allowing these disasters.

So does God punish us that way today?

My understanding of Luke 13:1-5 does not seem to point in that direction
