I remember i had been on a night out and came home all excited as i had heard rumours the new eye was going to be revealed. I opened tibb close to an orgasm, clicked on the thread and scrolled down witnessing all the disgusted comments and thought "cant be that bad".

Couldnt believe my eyes (no pun intended) when the eye finally reared its head at the bottom of the page. So even though the new eyes on Channel 5 are lackluster and totally lack any imagination lets just be thankfull its no longer this!

Lets also try to forget the embaressingly bad promo where the eye spontaniously morphed into an octopus and grew flower petals....

So you dont think that the advert where octopus tenticles and 1969 flower power petals grew from it a complete wreck?

It had nothing to do with the show and was just the randomest ad campaign in the history of BB.

Defo the first BB which felt like they were actually pulling it out of their arse.

To be fair, the 3D spaceship that the eye formed in the BB10 ads had nothing to do with the show either, yet everyone loved them.

Channel 5 today reveals its Big Brother logo, ahead of the show’s launch on

The new branding will first appear on air from 23
rd
July in ‘teases’ during
commercial breaks on Channel 5. It was created by Channel 5’s in-house
creative team and branding specialists Hello Charlie.
It will go on to form a key part of a major marketing campaign for the show,
which will run on-air, across the Channel 5 portfolio of channels, in print and
online. More details about the Big Brother marketing campaign will be
revealed in due course.

Jeff Ford, Channel 5, Director of Programmes said: “The new branding
really jumps off the page for us and something that I think symbolises
Channel 5’s values: straight-talking, direct and not afraid to be different. I am
really proud of the work the creative team have done to develop the branding
for the show, which will set the tone for the whole series.”
Gavin Henderson, Creative Director for Big Brother at Endemol adds:
“The Eye logo is part of Big Brother's DNA. This new design moves the brand
forward and perfectly captures our confidence in relaunching this iconic series
on Channel 5.”

Thankfully the animated version of the eye was much better, but it was still a very poor and lazy design. I get the impression that Channel 5 in the early stages of the series really didn't seem to grasp the quirks of the BB franchise which we all love, be it the eye or the variety and housemate types which we all have got used to. If it wasn't for the fact that we were so vocal of these changes the eye wouldn't change at all and the show's format would be akin to that of the awful CBB8.
