Paula - incredibly unfairly treated

If there is one thing that makes my blood boil, it's when housemates get treated unfairly. Think of Paula - she was booed before she went in for some bizarre reason that I couldn't really work out - presumably because she didn't play the "normal girl me" card like Tricia Penrose.

Then when she suffers some kind of illness where the producers suggest she moves into the luxury area, she is labelled as "faking". Based on what? People's prejudging of the evidence - we don't know what happened when she was ill and we don't know what the doctors say but for some reason, the public think they know better than them. Just because she seems ok now doesn't necessarily mean she was "faking" it and yet that assumption is now out there whether or not it's true.

I also don't like the way she is being treated by most of the Housemates in there - as some kind of weirdo to be mocked rather than an eccentric to treat with respect for just being different. I honestly don't think she is in any way unpleasant or devious - she doesn't understand how she comes across and indeed if, as reported, suffers from dyspraxia, this would explain why she behaves the way she does. A little more understanding from Housemates and viewers, rather than just dismissing her as a freak, would show some compassion.

I actually think she is great fun and could add a lot to this show if she is only given a chance.

It's also very disappointing that we are going to end up with some HMs who are coasting through, conforming and not challenging the arrogant boyz gang (ie Dettori, Ruddock, Maloney etc) and the older/overweight and proud women cliques which are already forming (ie Penrose, Taylforth, Richards).

Very disappointing.

I don't see the whole fuss about her really. Seems another boring HM to me. She isn't causing as much of a stir as you seem to make out.

Fantastic thread, I agree fully!

Full agree. It's actually sad to think she might be out first

I do hope Paula survives the vote, if anyone should go it should be Frankie, after all he put himself up...and expects the public to save him...whata kick in the teeth for Rylan et al if he was booted out...Ian in the sweaty box alluded to it tonight, noone is talking about Frankie..and he was encouraging people to vote for him....please dont

Sucks any have to be go so early on. All deserve their place in the house compared to some (based on what weve seen so far of course).

Yeah it's a right shame.

12.06am: Paula told Claire she wouldn't understand jetlag because she hasn't travelled. Err Paula, she was in Steps. Awkward. #CBB:joker:

Yes her pragmatic difficulties are setting the other hm's against herm it's a shame, I want her to stay :(

Well...being as how Paula suffers from a number of medical disorders, including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Bipolar disorder, she was always bound to be 'a bit different' from the other contestants. And right enough..she is!...She is wonderfully eccentric ....and interesting!.....which unfortunately also means that she is fair game for those prats on BOTS to poke fun at, and to be held up as an out and out flake!

It's a shame, but I think that she'll be evicted on Wednesday, because the public [voters anyway] aren't bored with the cynically-childish American reality gameshow contestant's gameplay yet!

Poor Paula,

smeagol 06-01-2013 11:42 PM

i like her shame she is going. people are bound to take the p out of her as shes funny doesn't mean they dont like her though.
that she went to rehab with 2 dead people was funny

Tourmaline 07-01-2013 12:04 PM

Paula is one of the more interesting characters this year. It's a travesty if she's out so soon

Petershaw1984 07-01-2013 12:24 PM

great post, absolutely agree, I think Paula is a great HM.

Niamh. 07-01-2013 12:47 PM

I don't think she's been treated unfairly. No one likes someone who's always trying to better their stories and Paula does come across as incredibly self obsessed.

As for her "illness" I don't buy it, no I'm not a Doctor but just because a BB Doctor recommended she be moved to the main house doesn't mean she was actually sick. We didn't see what went on behind closed doors, more than likely BB just wanted to avoid a walk out or a law suit.

Having said that she's a great HM
