Touches of BB Australia in this year's CBB

For those of you who didn't see last year's Big Brother Australia this will probably make no sense

This year's Celebrity Big Brother has nicked a couple of things from Down Under - firstly, and most significantly, during last night's nominations reveal they told the nominees how many votes they had recieved - blatantly inspired BBAU, who told their nominees how many points they recieved.

And today I've noticed that they're using alternative press shots of the nominees on the official website where they're pulling shocked faces:

This is also an idea copied from BBAU.

Given that the producers have clearly been keeping up with BB Australia, do you think they might copy some of their bigger features - such as their vastly superior nominations system - for this year's normal series?

I bloody hope so :D

Big Brother UK is the only English language version of the show that has a Celebrity spin-off - Australia hasn't attempted one since 2002

I like the use of alternate images for HM's facing eviction.

Also, anyone care to shed some light on what BBAU's nomination system is like?

They were good things to steal

The core format is thus: Instead of simply naming names, each HM has 5 'nomination points' to allocate to two housemates as they wish - either 3-2, or if there was someone they really wanted out, 4-1. The THREE housemates with the most POINTS then face the public vote to save.

Last year they also had weekly 'nomination superpowers' which were awarded to a housemate by the latest evictee. These were only revealed to their recipient when they were called up to nominate, and they changed weekly - for instance, one week the recipient had double points, the next week they could award all five to just one person, etc

I think all the world BBs have a big shared pool of ideas - AU nicked the Yes/No task from us after all :D

Hope they bring in the points system (though I think another country did it first - Brazil maybe?). Would make it more interesting in terms who 'who nominated who', since they could have been given 1 point or 4, so just knowing the sheer numbers wouldn't be enough.

they always make the most pointless changes.

Ironic that we're copying them, when they've sold out and copied us on other stuff.

Also, Brian saying a sentence before introducing a HM on launch night was borrowed from BBAUS.

"He has faced hurdles in his career, it's Frankie Detorri", for example
