Leonardo DiCaprio: I'm Taking a Long, Long Break from Acting

Leonardo DiCaprio has decided to take a break from acting because filming three movies in two years has left him exhausted.

DiCaprio's latest movie Django Unchained is among this year's Oscars favourites, and he is also preparing to release a big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and The Wolf of Wall Street with Martin Scorsese.

However, DiCaprio insists that after such a busy year, fans will have to wait a long time before they see him in another picture.

He tells Germany's Bild, "I'm a little bit drained. I am now going to take a long, long break."

When asked about plans for his hiatus, DiCaprio suggested he plans to focus on his love of environmental activism, adding, "I would like to improve the world a bit."

During the interview, the Titanic star also revealed he speaks some German and actually practiced with his Austrian/German co-star Christoph Waltz while they were making Django Unchained.

So two new films being released this year (after Django) and then a long break. Maybe he will finally win an Oscar for one of them

I prefered him pre Titanic when he chosen risky roles. He's a fine actor slightly overrated but he was good in Django and one or two other roles.

one of the best actors there is. has done a lot of great roles. the departed. gangs of new york , inception. catch me if you can aviator etc etc
apperently the scene in django where he bangs the table and cuts his hand was real and kept on acting.
he wasn't in it much so doubt he worked long on it. was a ok film more spike lee than tarentino though.

No way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He bangs the table, cuts his hand, but still carries on acting? What an absolute pro. I'm sure Daniel Day-Lewis is shi*ting himself with method acting like that.

Don't think he's fat. Maybe has a bit of a belly, but only a tad. Sure you're not thinking of Val Kilmer?

Not so much Batman, but more Fat man.

Vanessa 13-02-2013 11:05 AM

I think he's gorgeous!

Well it is quite impressive to not break character at all when youve just accidentally created a huge gash in your hand and have blood pouring from it

Vanessa 13-02-2013 11:09 AM

He's a good actor, but Daniel Day Lewis is better.

Maybe for you or I Matthew, but actors would probably be aware of things like this, and know full well that little accidents can add drama/realism to a scene.

I know for a fact actors are told to keep going in these instances - if possible.

And to wipe it all over Kerry Washington's face

MTVN 13-02-2013 12:01 PM

Indeed, a fine piece of improvisation
