In Mexico girl aged 9yrs gives birth after rape....
 

nine-year-old Mexican girl has given birth in what authorities have called a rape or sexual abuse case.

The baby girl was born on January 27 in Zoquipan Hospital in Jalisco state, weighing 5lbs 7oz.

The youngster, who is identified only as Dafne, was eight when she got pregnant by a teenager who has since run away, her mother told local officials.

She said: "The father is a boy who is 17, but we have not found him, since he ran away.

"We are looking for the young man to get his story because she does not understand what has happened. This is a rape or child sex abuse case," said Jorge Villasenor with the state prosecutors' office.

Both girls were released from the hospital over the weekend, apparently doing well.

But the hospital said it would have to do extensive follow-up work due to the new mother's age


..I find this really difficult to comprehend because I work with children up to that age and their bodies haven't started to develop yet....obviously this young girl's had...the rape itself is shocking enough but to have a child at 9yrs old as well....I hope mum and baby get good support from everyone around them, including the authorities....

Good lord....horrifying. Hope the family get all the support and guidance they need, which will be an awful lot. Poor girl, as if the abuse wasn't bad enough to then face a pregnancy so young doesn't bear thinking about.

She actually gave birth to the baby :/ I'm not really for abortion at all but in the case of a 9 year old child surely it would have been better for her not to go through that?

Totally agree Niamh but I would imagine no one knew until she was quite far and I think Mexico is a very catholic country so I don't think abortion would have been considered. So horrific for her to go through all this when she is still a baby herself...

I guess if you had no idea that she was raped, as a parent, pregnancy would be the last thing you'd expect to be wrong with your 9 year old if she was feeling sick :/

My son is nearly 9 and to me he's still a baby, it's just horrifying even thinking about it

I have a 9 year old daughter and I cannot comprehend what that kid went through , it's scary .

OMG how horrific. I can't imagine what the girl went through and I hope she is receiving lots of support.

I don't even remember being 9 years old. I literally have no memory of it. It was like before i was even a person.

I don't know the whole story, but why didn't the parents help her get an abortion? Abortion is legal in Mexico isnt it?

Tbh I doubt the parents or doctors expected the child to be pregnant so if the child was sick may have overlooked that.

If the old days the family would just pretend that the child was her sister, and pretend her mom had it. Didn't Sarah Palin get accused of her last child actually being one of her daughters children?
