Shocking

Marc 24-02-2013 12:06 PM

Not sure why anybody would do this to themself.

Wow, that's some accusation.. wonder what prompted them to seize her laptop, the psychiatric report must have unearthed something then?

That's extreme...I would say she had some mental health issues if that's the case.

GypsyGoth 24-02-2013 12:10 PM

It's really sad, sounds like she needed help a bit before this horrible incident.

Yes for some people
Life can go that way

Ammi 24-02-2013 12:21 PM

..there could be other reasons for searching Katie Piper..I don't know anything about this incident but maybe she was threatened/scared of something beforehand and researched stuff or she may have just been interested in her...there are other ways of hurting yourself, it's hard to imagine someone could do this...and she did it in a public place..?...hmmm, it'll be interesting to see if they have proof....

Shasown 24-02-2013 12:28 PM

Could be an extreme case of something like Munchausen Syndrome

Sam:) 24-02-2013 12:46 PM

Could be a coincidence, i've googled katie piper a couple of times and ended up reading up on acid attacks. Same as googling cars before getting ran over, doubt anyone would go through that much pain for 15 minutes of fame

That's a good point Ammi actually....someone could have threatened her and said something along the lines of "you'll end up like Katie Piper" and she had googled it. On the other hand if that had been the case she probably would have highlighted that to the police so they would have expected to see that on her searches...?

Munchkins 24-02-2013 12:57 PM

Tbf i've searched Katie piper and everyting loads before ,i find it interesting, i can't imagine her doing it so herself, how horrific though

No its was 30mins Live TV

And 20mins with Kay on SkyNewsHD

Me. I Am Salman 24-02-2013 01:04 PM

the before and after picture is heartbreaking

I hope it isn't true because for someone to be able to do that to themselves must be seriously unstable. also can you stop using the Daily Mail it really riles me up

Kizzy 24-02-2013 01:05 PM

I'm inclined to believe they do know she did it herself, there are lots of CCTV in public places. She would have had to have purchased the product too, if she used her card that can be traced.
Maybe they want her to come to the realisation herself?...

Jords 24-02-2013 01:08 PM

corr dear

"also can you stop using the Daily Mail it really riles me up"

No

Ammi 25-02-2013 10:19 AM

..they were talking about this story on This Morning earlier..she appeared on the programme once and they find it hard to believe she would have done this to herself..apparently she was 'searching' Katie Piper because of make-up she used..?...obviously we don't know anything yet, it'll be interesting to see what happens with this...poor girl anyway, either way...

Tom4784 25-02-2013 10:38 AM

It's a flimsy accusation if that's all the evidence they have to support it. Plenty of people will have googled Katie Piper, her story is interesting but it doesn't mean that people who look her up plan to disfigure themselves.

Kizzy 25-02-2013 10:48 AM

how many victims of serious assault have their computors investigated though?... there has to be a reason?

AnnieK 25-02-2013 10:48 AM

There must be something else that has made them seize her laptop, I wouldn't have thought it was normal procedure to seize the victims property....i would think they must have something that has made them consider this is not a random attack.

Ammi 25-02-2013 10:52 AM

..I suppose I just can't get my mindset around someone doing something like that to themselves...it must be one of the worst fears there is..it's such an horrific pain/disfugurement..there are so many 'attention' options, it just feels unbelievable...

..the other thing is that we don't know whether searches on laptops etc is often 'procedure'...and there might just be one or two searches on Katie for all we know..I think a high profile case like that wouldn't be unusual for people to google and read up on...

Ah... still odd though maybe they thought she knew her attacker and was going through her FB?...
Glad they at least have a suspect now.
