wanting to support artists isn't really something you can get dickish about

If everyone's going to expect to be able to download everything for free, people will stop creating stuff. Who wants to work for nothing so people can download free stuff? Consequently there will be no investment in the future and the industry will die.

I guess some truly creative people will still create. However, if someone is willing to spend their life creating something good, I am happy to give them a tenner for it. I want to listen to what I consider to be quality music and I am happy to pay people to create and then produce it. It's only fair. I wouldn't work for nothing, I wouldn't expect others to.

I'm not saying the Internet is bad or that the opportunities it affords are not many. I'm saying you can't expect to have everything for nothing. Art costs.

but Livia, the music industry has been screwing artists FOREVER. he Music industry is NOTORIOUS for screwing artists out of the money they deserve.

The only issue now, is that the music INDUSTRY is getting screwed out of money, and frankly, i don't have much sympathy for the INDUSTRY.

People can be made over the Internet without the massive hype of the record companies - as you already know. But that doesn't mean to say we should expect them to give it away for nothing.

well i'm 31 years old now, i'm well past the age of being a fan boy. BUt this is what i'll say, if you love an artist, support them on tour, because that is where they make their money. Buy a ticket to their live show, and when you get there,m buy a T-Shirt if you really support them Cause that's how most musicians make their money is on tour and with merch.

It has nothing to do with buying cd's or downloading music. Artists have always made their living on the road with tickets and merch.
