"The Question Time stooge: How Labour Party
planted a diehard supporter in the BBC audience to attack UKIP panellist on debate show Labour activist Amy Rutland, 23, attacked UKIP candidate on Question Time Politics graduate called UKIP Eastleigh candidate Diane James 'disgusting' Accusations she was 'Labour Party plant' deliberately given airtime by BBC BBC received dozens of complaints from " http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/...63_634x478.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/...97_634x647.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/...48_634x117.jpg Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...#ixzz2NVzrP2CB What a Stink |
That will make up for all the likely usual plants in the audience by the Conservatives and Lib Dems too then.
|
I haven't read the story. Is there evidence that she was actually planted by the party?

[Right to reply: Question Time presenter David Dimbleby, demanded UKIP Diane James to answer Miss Rutland's allegation that she was 'disgusting'] http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/...24_634x509.jpg [Campaigning: The politics graduate is pictured, far right, at the Eastleigh by-election vote count] |
Is she a labour supporter who applied, or was she pushed on to the programme by the party?
|
Not really sure what the big fuss is about. Other parties are free to do the same (if this indeed even happened) At least she's passionate about politics.

I do not. Labour are Cheats |
certainly she has just as much of a right to ask questions on Question Time as anyone else. I don't see the problem.
If the Producers specifically choose her as part of some larger Labour conspiracy with the BBC, then that would be a problem, but i don't think that is the case here. |

They all are to a degree in truth but none worse currently than the Lib Dems. |

Very often someone asking a question from the audience, asks a perfectly good question and also makes a good point but it either gets dismissed or the panel sidestep it altogether and make political speeches almost. David Dimbleby is supposed to be the chairman, I am near sure some weeks he actually, rather than just chairing the programme, asks more questions than the audience does. Often unrelated to the original questions raised too. I still watch it but do feel it has lost its credibilty so much that I cannot take it that seriously anymore. |
To be fair, anyone can be an activist. She isn't paid by the party and there is no evidence that the BBC "planted" her in the audience as a favour to Labour. If there is evidence, it would be such a hot potato news-wise that I think we'd probably know about it by now. And she was a counting agent at the Eastleigh by-election... So what? As long as you're nominated by the candidate or their agent beforehand, anyone can be a counting agent. It's really... reeeeeeally boring.
I'm no fan of Labour but this really is something being made out of nothing. |
It's question time, surely someone who asks difficult questions is a good thing.

But not if its a Question set up by Labour. If the are workers for the party David should say that then its all more clear. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/...48_634x117.jpg |

I think she asked a question, and asked it in a way that reflected how MANY british people feel about UKIP. I don't think she asked anything unreasonable.
I think MANY british people are against what they perceive to be a racist and fundamentalist and nationalist party. I think this young woman was chosen to ask her question because it was relevant to the discussion. I don't think there is any conspiracy. |
Remember when the guy from BNP was on? lol.
|
To be fair you are not going to want to appear on QT and ask a question if you have NO interest in politics are you?
And by 23 it's not surprising she has a clear idea of who she is supporting. |
Probably the annoying sort of person who tries to direct any conversation at all to give herself an opportunity to show how political she is
Anyway, my baseless, preconceived judgement aside, this doesn't seem like that big a deal to me |

As I said in my response to arista at the start, if she was planted then I am also sure it will have been done and will still be being done all the time by all the Parties, not just Labour. So pretty unfair to just single Labour out for criticism as to this anyway. |

And I'm surprised that it annoys you so much MTVN, you seem to have a grasp of the importance of seeing the wood for the trees in issues. |
