Its endearing

As a Canadian i can honestly say that I've never came across a fellow Canadian who said 'aboot'. This is as amusing to me as it is to any non-Canadians cause i had no idea they actually spoke like that out east. lmao

Emmet is the #1 offender.

Marc 05-04-2013 11:21 AM

I just don't know why it bugs me so much but it does

Canadians do say "about" peculiarly, but not quite "aboot", that's the Scottish.

The difference to my ears is, general Americans "abawt" and general Canadian "abowt".

Do many Canadian's take words from the Scottish language? I know Nova Scotia is like new Scotland. But I may just be being a little retarded

Just the East Coast tends toward an accent that is Scott like.

It is rather a small part of our population

I heard Jillian say it!!!

lostalex 08-04-2013 11:03 AM

"sorry" is another word I notice Canadians mispronounce. they say like "sew ree"

They pronounce like 99% of words in an American accent, but there are just few that they say differently so it's really noticeable.
