Why when British people speak foreign languages do we take on their accent yet when foreign people speak our language you can distinctly hear their own accent?

there is probably a logical answer, it's just weird/funny..

I mean when you're learning it, like French in school, and you actually have to take on the accent too, I wonder if English lessons in France they talk with a cockney accent lol..
