The ginger gene is actually really strong. I'm a carrier without the unfortunate side affects.

The steppe region was well known for red hair, and as tribes were probably breeding a little closer in those days, so the ginger gene was probably kept ticking over.

Most people that have the ginger gene are not even ginger. It's a recessive gene, so you might not even know that you have the ginger gene in you.

All my immediate family are dark haired...the ginger only came out in me. I spent years hating but now I love it...for one ginger doesn't tend to go grey!!

not fully, but I've ginger hairs running through it, same with my pubes.
