It hasn't been on since about October. They must have planned this. Sly C4, very sly...
|
Didn't million pound drop go up against Celeb BB at some point last year? I thought BB did alright, or am I completely making that up?

think it was bb

MPD doesn't get much more than 1m viewers does it? It's a watchable enough show but I think it's run it's course (mind you a lot of people would say the same for BB)
|
MPD has gone head to head with both BB and CBB in the past and it has won the battle on a few occasions.
I'm positive the BB launch shows will prove to be winners, but MPD runs for six weeks this time so whether or not BB's still in the lead by then is a different story. I love both shows, wish they wouldn't put them against each other because they both have to be watched live really :( |
I think what I watch will depend on what the first launch is like.
|
They have clashed before I am sure, for me though there is no contest.
I firstly cannot stand Million pound drop and I even don't think Davina is suited to it either so no problem whatsoever as to what I will watch. |
For the launch show, we don't need to worry. The MPD launched with 1.45m officially in its last series, I think it got 1.2m overnight. Somehow, I doubt MPD will go above 1.3m overnight on that Friday and I am pretty certain BB launch #2 will surpass 1.3m.

As if anyone still watches that borefest.
|
Worth bearing in mind that Million Pound Drop has a new twist this series (a double or nothing final question) - if Channel 4 markets it right it could draw higher ratings than usual, at least initially.

MPD has burnt itself out by having something like 10 series in two and a half years. It's had a much needed break but can't see ratings rising, even if they really did push heavy on how the new twist means in theory someone could walk away with £2m.
|
Predicting the launch to pull in 2.5 million viewers.

"© Channel 4 The Million Pound Drop Live is enjoying a ratings resurgence on Channel 4, overnight data has shown. The Davina McCall gameshow climbed to a series high of 1.64m (7.7%) on Friday night between 9pm and 10.30pm, adding 210k (1.2%) on +1. The programme fell to an all-time low three weeks ago, when 1.36m viewers watched the eighth run opener. Though signs suggest the format isn't yet running out of steam, its figures are still a fair distance away from its 2.5m peak in 2010. Who still watches MPD LOL.
It had a shelf-life like most other quiz shows, no longer fun to watch. |

I think BB will do just fine. It should win with the launch show, and if C5 pull their socks up with this series, then it could keep a steady pace on a Friday for the remaining number of weeks of MPD.
As has already been mentioned, MPD doesn't get that many viewers anyway, so it's not as though the show is really going to steal that many of BB's viewers anyway - no? I think we'll be fine though, especially if said twist works and if Emma takes to the position like a duck to water - which let's face it, she will. |
MPD, bit like Millionaire, unless there is absolutely nothing else on I wouldn't bother with it.
