Marcus Bentley Interview .. There is a big secret on its way. MMB

How did you get the voice over role and how did channel 4 spin the show, did they always expect more than 1 season?

When BB came a long I’d been doing voice overs for a couple of years. The producers didn’t know what they were looking for and listened to basically every voice over out there on the agents’ books via their showreels.

They at first listened to famous people then eventually decided to listen to regional accents and then they asked me and a few others to record a small amount of script. I recorded a line ,” Jason is in the garden feeding the chickens”, The commissioning editor for Channel 4 loved the way that I said, “Chickens” so, the rest is history.

They told me that the show was starting to be a big hit across Europe and that they hoped that that would happen in Britain. I don’t have any idea of how long Channel 4 perceived it would last. But for me, 5 weeks in , when Nasty Nick got his comeuppance , I knew I was involved in something special.

Did you ever worry about how the show was being perceived, did you ever want to voice your opinion’s to channel 4 boss’s?

My voice is usually loud and clear to my colleagues at Big Brother. I’m known for not mincing my words but I’m always respectful to my very talented coworkers. I do sometimes say, “Why the F-)£ did you put her in the house? She’s the most boring housemate in history.’
“Well just you wait”, they tell me, “She’s a feisty mare and she’ll come good soon.” I’m still waiting for the odd one to “come good’.

In all seriousness I’ve been working with my BB family for so long that we are very close and they nurture an environment where I am a part of the team and a good friend. If this wasn’t the case I wouldn’t say anything.

They are a wonderful team and a joy to work with. I just want the show to be fun, entertaining , educating and provocative. I think it is. So I never worry about people’s perception of it if we hit those marks.

Jade Goody appeared to make more impact to Big Brother than any other housemate, how did you feel when you heard she had passed away?

Although I didn’t know Jade well she was part of the BB family and arguably it’s greatest housemate.
Her rise and fall is that of reality tv legend. I was upset that someone so young and vibrant could be cruelly taken from her family like that. A tragedy. But what a life she lead. I get asked about her everywhere I go. She had the Xfactor and people adored her. As a housemate she was unique and that’s what we’ve got to try and find this year – uniqueness.

Having done some acting work, do you prefer Voice over or the Acting aspect of it all?

Voice over on BB or indeed on anything is just another acting job and I love it.

How do you’re children feel about having a dad that’s got the most famous voice in the UK, and did you allow them to watch Big Brother?

My kids have grown up with me doing BB. They say that they’re proud and I reckon it’s a pretty cool thing to say at school. I never used to let them watch it as it can be a bit rude but over the years they’ve watched some when I knew it was ok.
Nowadays they’re aged 20,14 and 14. and they can watch what they like. It’s part of their education.

At any point did you ever consider leaving the Big Brother role, has anything made you think ‘ Do you know what I’ve had enough?

‘ No nothing and never. It’s fabulous to work on as are the people to work with. You never see a sad or bored face on BB. Hundreds of people work on BB and everyone walks around smiling. It’s lovely.

Did you ever watch any of the Live Feed from previous Seasons of Big Brother, How did you find it?

Most of the live feed is not my cup of tea. It goes on a bit and endless pictures of housemates sleeping is not for me. I do find it fascinating around eviction time or when a bit of bother has gone down. A little dose every now and then , perfect.

We understand that the Channel 5 contract expires with Endemol in 2014, have you heard any rumours if it could be extended or any other channels interested in taking over?

Not heard anything about contracts.

Have you ever had a run in or disagreement with any ‘Celebs’ from Celibrity Big Brother?

No but I’ve had a nice pint with Terry Christian and Ulrika.

Do you love the rumour’s that circulate around the News, With Who could be going into the Big Brother House?

Love them. And I get very excited about them especially when in January I heard that Lindsay Lohan was going in the house. I was disappointed as I believed the rumours, I also heard that they really nearly got Charlie Sheen.

If you could personally pick say 3 celebs for CBB, which 3 housemates would you pick and why?

Charlie Sheen ( exciting and unpredictable ) Lindsay Lohan ( a true rock n roll celeb) and Davina ( Big Mamma does Big Brother). She’d win.

And Finally…..

Can you reveal one Exclusive no matter how small from this years Big Brother?

There is a big secret on its way. MMB

They're not half hyping this secret. I really do hope it's good.

daniel-lewis-1985 06-06-2013 05:50 PM

I don't believe a word Marcus says.

His tweets and interview quotes never tend to come true.

Shockingly I trust Rylan to be more of a good source than this cartoon character.

Jack_ 06-06-2013 05:52 PM

I reckon there's no prize fund.
