What is the mindless obsession with recording everything on Smart phones. This is the Queen not some B list celeb. Show some restraint and respect.

Yes I do
and in this Day and Age it Stinks

They sell billions of BBC DVDs and other products

Enough to fund its Fecking Self

lostalex 09-06-2013 01:14 PM

I fund the BBC every time i have to watch ads on the BBC website. I probably provide more money to the BBC by having to watch ads as an American on the BBC website than the actual British license payers bring in.

Vicky. 09-06-2013 01:16 PM

Havent paid mine for years and years. I disagree with it really. I would pay if it was JUST for the upkeep of satellites and stuff (which would be a lot cheaper) but since part of it goes to the BBC I dont watch BBC..and even if I did I dont see why they dont just use adverts to fund themselves the same as other channels do. I dont see why we should be taxed on top of the price of buying the tv/sky/etc

Tbh I very rarely watch TV anyway, use catchups and download torrents much more often.

lostalex 09-06-2013 01:18 PM

It's especially ridiculous, because sometimes i'll be on the BBC website, and try to watch a video, and sit through the 30 second ad, and then it says "sorry this is not available in your region" !!!

So they got my advertising count by making me watch the 30 second ad and then i don't even get to watch the video. If it's not available in my region, tell me that BEFORE you show me the ad. They are bastards.

Ahh the big brother site used to do something like that to me a lot. Make me watch loads of ads, then cut out so I had to refresh and watch the ads again. Im sure it was on purpose.

Yes, God forbid that you'd be funding one of the more impartial, and higher quality television networks out there.

State funded TV is not impartial. It's a conflict of interest. You can't claim to be impartial if you are receiving money from the government.

When it's Iran state funded TV, biased, China state funded TV, biased, but we are meant to believe that UK state funded TV isn't biased?

give me a break. :bored:

You cannot claim to be independent and unbiased when you are receiving money from the government.
