Luke A: 'Big Brother's future is unknown'.

I'm watching Luke A's Web Stream - and he just said about the possibility of a 15th Series being unlikely because of financial purposes.

Then he said he hopes another channel picks it up.

Well **** off doing two celebrity series a year then. There's no excuse to axe the original series.

I work closely with Luke for my site you all know that and I respect that guy SO MUCH.

But what does he actually know about Channel 5's current finance situation and how long Big Brother will carry on for? If they still want CBB they have to carry on BB because they're packaged together.

I just said to him about how they need to stop doing so many CBB series - and he completely agreed and said that he wishes they'd focus more on the original series because it's better.

Headie 10-06-2013 08:28 PM

LOL and how would he know all of this anyway?

I personally love Luke A, he is a humble, friendly guy but I don't understand how he would know about C5's current financial situation when all he did was win the show. It's not like they reveal all their broadcasting statistics to the winner as part of the prize fund :joker:

Here's his live stream btw, if anyone wants to watch: http://twitcam.livestream.com/ern2d

If they dropped the civilian series, that's it. I'm out. There's no way I'd watch one, let alone two celebrity series a year without the original.

But why would he say that for if he didn't have some kind of info to go on? :(

Not that I'm dissing him, I love the guy - he's genuine.

I don't know :S But isn't the show contracted until the end of 2014? So BB15 is practically guaranteed, unless they scrap it and do 3 CBBs a year :joker:

This. The normal BB is SO much better than the celebrity version :bored:

ThisIsNickkk 10-06-2013 08:35 PM

Channel 5 have signed the contract up until the end of 2014. I'm sure the contract will specifically state "One BB and two CBB's", not "Do whatever the frig you like"?

Patrick 10-06-2013 08:36 PM

So technically it's BB16 that sits on the fence then yeah?

I would think so. As I say, the contract has definitely been signed up until the end of 2014.

jackc1806 10-06-2013 08:38 PM

BB16, ****ing hell :O

Samm 10-06-2013 08:39 PM

Channel 5 won't axe normal BB I have not Evan heard of any financial problems don't they have to do a normal BB and how does luke A know they have got financial problems

Matt 10-06-2013 08:41 PM

In the past few months Channel 5 has splashed cash on buying Brian Dowling out of his contract, completely revamping the house, and drastically increasing the amount of live feed on offer, so forgive me if I don't quite buy the thought of them having financial problems.

If we ever reach BB20 that would be ****ing cool

ThisIsNickkk 10-06-2013 08:51 PM

I mean, BB is performing well for Channel 5 at the moment, and it must be turning a profit.

With the amount of money they have spent this year, especially on the house itself, they must have faith in the show yet, so I can't see Channel 5 axing it anytime soon. I'm certain they will sign the contract for another 2 years to take them up to the end f 2017.

Having two CBB's a year tells you everything. If Channel 5 was having financial problems, I'm sure one of the CBB's would be axed before anything else. I'm sure they'd try other options, and I'm afraid one option isn't splashing the cash like they have done this year.

I wouldn't worry...

Rob! 10-06-2013 08:53 PM

There hasn't exactly been any hints that the show is in financial trouble - loads of celebrities have come out saying that their fees were very substantial. BB16 is a long way off yet, plus Big Brother is one of the most successful shows in Channel 5's history - they'll find the money for it somehow.

Samm 10-06-2013 08:55 PM

Are we the only country that does CBB I think Australasia did it once and maybe Germany

And if channel 5 are having financial problems they will axe one of the CBB it cost for the the celebritys

DigitalSid 10-06-2013 09:09 PM

He's talking through his arse, it's contracted for another already paid for series next year.

iRyan 11-06-2013 01:33 PM

LOL that's so not true.

Why would they pay to fire Brian just to have Emma host one series? Not to mention the contract to show BB15 in 2014 has already been signed.
