Contribute news articles for TiBB homepage (new and improved)
 

We now have a new system for posting frontpage Big Brother articles. Anyone can contribute. :amazed: If anything doesn't work right let me know.


Quick instructions:

1. Go to Quick Links Menu (top of page) - Post New Frontpage Article.

2. Type your article like it was a new thread and click Submit.

3. Sit back and wait for article approval.

4. Done.

It has the following new features:

• Articles only visible on the homepage and to you in forum (saves confusion about two forum threads with same topic).
  
• Related Thread - Option to select an existing thread from the forum which has the same topic. A notification post will be made in the thread about your article and comments for the article on the homepage will appear from this thread.
  
• Save Draft - You can now save draft articles which are not immediately published. You can use this to create a placeholder story which you can re-visit and edit.
  
• All the other usual forum features.

Here's how to use it.

In the Quick Links menu at the top of the forum select Post Frontpage article.

You will be presented with a page similar to posting a new thread. Simply post a thread in the normal way with a subject and message.

To select a related thread (thread on the forum which is about the same subject) click 'Select new forum thread'. This is optional though, if you don't select a thread a new notification thread will be posted on the forum. Mods can merge that with another topic if need be so don't worry.

And to Save a draft article click 'Save Article as Draft (Don't publish to frontpage)'

Click Submit New Thread as usual and wait for the article to be approved. (we'll give reporter status to users also so they can post articles without waiting for approval).

Guidelines for articles are:

• Don't copy articles from fansites.
• You can quote excerpts from news sites.
• Original content is best.

James, I love you... I really do. But please, before the year is out can we have the Theme Competition winners theme up and a revamped homepage that makes it look awesome?

I'll do it when I get the chance. Working out all these slowness problems has been taking up time recently.

The trouble with adding new themes is it is quite a lot of work to add them considering not many people will see and use them.

Could you not make the new theme a default?

Bit of a long shot but would anyone want to do a few articles for Big Brother USA?

Would you believe it. I forgot to add the links for the 'Blue Metal' theme. Change to another theme and you'll see them.

I'll fix it for that theme.

I was just trying to beat Josy to making the article but I think she's already done it. :tongue:

I've fixed the Quick Links menu in the 'Blue Metal' theme. You can now find the 'Post New Frontpage Article' option there.
