Accept BB has Changed

I have noticed a hell of a lot of negativity towards the series on here.

Negativity towards minor details that have nothing to do with how good a series yet have some people saying the entire show is ruined

Example

Montages

This new way of showing the events in the house is fun, lively and stops the highlights becoming boring

But people for some reason do not like them?

I can't help but wonder why. They're a great way to show the passage of time in the house and keep the shows moving along nicely. Which with the absence of a 24 hour live feed is invaluable to how much of the day we see condensed into an hour

It's just an editorial choice it has no effect on events in the series and shouldn't be given such prominence.

graphics

I am the biggest fan of the graphic of BB and over the years have contributed much to this forum in the design section

BUT

I would never ever let a graphics package or onscreen titles an logos ruin my actual enjoyment of the show

It's just not important. It the wrapping paper.

An once you unwrap the gift you no longer look at the paper but are more concerned with what is in the box.

Same here

You cannot judge how good a series is going to be before the housemates are even in the compound

All these surplus details shouldn't effect your enjoyment of a series

You need to accept that this is not the BB of old and it will never be the how you want it to be. This is a new era and things are done differently now

Have you been hacked? There is not a misplaced capitalised word in sight.

Your predictions and designs seem to be fairly similar to the real thing and you always defend C5. I've come to the conclusion that you know someone who's a producer

Most of the comments are positive, not negative. People have rarely been so optimistic about a season.

I dont mind negative comments tbh

Its those who force it down peoples necks that they arent going to watch that pisses me off. I dont see the need to shout from the rooftops that you arent watching...just dont watch..no need for the fuss

Yea i didn't watch Ricky Gervais' Derek. Because i didn't like the font they used to spell 'Derek'

I love Ricky too.

So why are Channel 5 making such an effort to go back to basics this year and adding more live feed if they themselves have accepted the "change"?

Don't tell other people what to do its getting very annoying.

Yeah, that Ben's a menace.

I disagree profusely with the montages, the graphics are sufferable but to me the idea behind Big Brother was to watch universal themes of daily life to unfold in an experiment. It has gotten enamoured with making the show glossy and living off the shirt tails of other shows.

The montages and music add to the overall feel of watching an edited program to the point where it seems storylined and dumbed down. I can't speak for everyone but as a long time fan I feel alienated to what I used to know. Montages can work once in a while but not weekly and certainly not every night. In a task I like to see progression and humanistic mood shifts and arguments but with a montage it seems to skim over the hardship and shows victory more like a scene than an unfolding non fiction event.

I am still a fan of the show and I love the concept I just don't like the evolution to the format. I can put up with it but I shouldn't have to because for me it was a point of if it ain't broke don't fix it. I see your opinions and that's fine for you to have those but mine differ I cannot write off the show as it hasn't yet been aired but I can express concern based on a chance that the past might repeat itself.

It is sad though. Big Brother used to be the benchmark all the other inferior reality shows measured themselves against.

And now Big Brother's so low down it's striving to become more and more like the crappy others.

Bro, that is the most deep ******ing post I've ever read on here. Respect.

Marsh. 12-06-2013 07:18 PM

About as deep as a paddling pool.

Tony1111 12-06-2013 07:20 PM

There are both positives and negatives that I can see. I like that they admitted the route they took the show down was wrong, I like that they have added a psych show and a live feed, I like they've made a great house, I love that they have a new host and a new overall theme.

Over the past days I dislike somethings I have seen but as you say until I watch I can't judge but based on the past I am cautious.

This site has a terrible bandwagon effect. Bring up something negative and everyone jumps on and beats it like a dead horse. A reputable poster slaps people on the wrist and everyone jumps on their bandwagon. Oh well, if gives us something to read.
