Sallie being perceived quite unfairly

Feels to me that how everyone seems to be considering Sallie atm is a bit unfair; going on about what a vile person she is, no redeeming qualities, one dimensional etc. I don't think this is the case at all. It's true she can be quite immature and a too self centred at times, but fundamentally she does seem like a well intentioned and honest person who's perfectly capable of getting along with other people, her main problem is that she lashes out when she feels wronged or threatened instead of dealing with it in a calmer manner.

Last night her reaction to being nommed was over the top but understandable; it's been seen at various times that she's got along well with Michael, and then one day he's in the DR having a bit of a cheap shot about how she dresses and the next he nominates her over all the others and doesn't seem that bothered about it. Her reaction was more of a defence mechanism to hide that she was quite upset about it, you could see she didn't really know what to do and was quite unsettled by it; not sure whether to stand up or sit down, twice walking over to the kitchen and then back again etc. Dexter said pretty much all the same things about Michael that she said in the garden afterwards but no one has really held it against him, and Sallie even admitted that she was handling the whole thing terribly

Plus I think there's more to her than just her loud and argumentative side, she has interesting friendships with a few of them in there like Wolfy, and also with Hazel even though you wouldn't always expect two young models to get along so well. She's admitted that her initial judgements about some people were wrong with Jemima and even last night showed she was willing to give Gina more of a chance, plus we saw a softer side to her in the DR after that argument with Gina. And she's always pretty lively and energetic, you're not likely to just catch her lying around on her own or sleeping somewhere.

So basically yeah, I'm bored and thought I would share some musings with you all. In short; Sallie is great, everyone evict Gina.

I think she has the first week syndrome where her way of dealing with stuff is to be centre of attention. She has already calmed down somewhat since the first night. Also, I get why she is pissed off with Michael, they have been getting on all week and I guess she thought they were friends and he just backstabbed her.

fruit_cake 19-06-2013 09:52 AM

I thought Michael's 'side boob' comment was very nasty, she has every right to be upset but she needs to get a grip and realise that she's on BB and it's not always going to go her way.

GiRTh 19-06-2013 09:53 AM

I like her, despite her many flaws over bearing personality. I think she is the potential 'journey' HM and not Gina. She needs to remember where she is and calm down a bit.

Benjamin 19-06-2013 09:55 AM

Yeah, I think Sallie could do well if she tones it down a bit.

fruit_cake 19-06-2013 09:57 AM

great OP by the way MTVN

GiRTh 19-06-2013 09:57 AM

I agree that she doenst know how to react to Michael and thus I feel sorry for her. She needs to cope better though and not lash out so often.

Vicky. 19-06-2013 10:00 AM

She was my favourite but yesterday I went right off her. She's still in my top 4, but she seriously needs to tone it down a bit. I know Michael is just acting and stuff, but I really did feel sorry for him the way she went on..

She seems to be trying to hard to 'say it like it is' and is just coming across as a nasty bitch to be quite honest. Good entertainment value, but not a very nice person.

However, I think its all a front, as I do with Dexter. Hopefully we see some of the 'nice' side of her soon.

Served Michael right after banging on about how great it was going to be to nominate those 3 and what amazing choices they were :idc:

fruit_cake 19-06-2013 10:05 AM

One concern I have with Sallie is she was very quick to say how low cut Hazel's tops were when she was trying to defend herself against Michael's insults. If that's how quick she is to turn hate on to her friends it doesn't 'cut' it very well with me personally.

Her comment was in some ways fair enough as Hazel's tops are lower cut but perhaps the problem is that Sallie doesn't realise just how much of her backside is on view when she wears those shorts. Afterall, she can't actually see it whereas we can.

It was kinda strange how she didn't mention the shorts at all and only focused on how low cut her tops were.

Kizzy 19-06-2013 10:05 AM

Nah, the barrage of abuse hurled at micheal was an eye opener..
Calling him a *******? and saying she's going to make his life a living hell?
Far far too angry and aggressive, her and hazel have formed a little clique and are trying to dominate the house.

She didnt know about that though. She thinks he just nominated her. Makes a big difference IMO.

Patricia4 19-06-2013 10:08 AM

Calling him a ******* was out of order I want her to go.

Yeah I know but that's just why I don't think Michael is really deserving of any sympathy, especially after later on as well when he thought it was hilarious that Dexter had been crying about his nomination

The 'real' Michael seems like a bit of a nob to me

I did sorta think that too but yeah she is right that she doesn't wear that low cut tops all that often, a lot of the time she's got a hoodie on, and like she said last night considering Michael shredded all her clothes on first night she's probably not had a great deal of choice in what she wears lol

Hes not deserving of sympathy I agree..which is why I felt daft when I felt sorry for him

But if she can be like that with him when she doesnt know what hes like, she would be the same with a genuine nomination I think..she thinks hes this shy retiring bloke who sulks in bed all day for gods sake, and she talks to him like that?!

I think Sallie was trying to defend why hers are out by saying that Hazels are on show more and that hazel has all her clothes. Sallie pointed out that she doesn;t have much choice as her clothes were shredded.

sampvt 19-06-2013 10:16 AM

She has a game plan to carve out an Alpha female roll in the house by whatever means she sees fit, the problem is she cant do it all that well and she has reverted to foul means to get to her goal. If she would only just stop talking over people and think before she opens her mouth, she might fit the bill a bit better as she does have qualities that make her interesting. She is acting like a trollop at the moment and her dress sense is certainly contrived for Bb and not what she is actually like in real life.

all true, but in fairness she was wearing those very same shorts on her entrance to the house, she clearly doesn't have a problem being on show in them, whether she has her suitcase or not. But yeah, she does have a point too.

I'm not really sure who the real Michael is, the 'real' Michael seems as much an act as the 'puppet' Michael

GiRTh 19-06-2013 10:17 AM

Sallie was trying to defend herself with the Hazel comment. I think its clear she likes Hazel and the comment wasn't meant to be malicious. I think Sallie just doenst know how to defend herself in a confrontation hence her felling that she 'keeps it real' when in truth she completely loses it. I like the fact she acknowledged she was not taking the nominations very well. Finally a bit of self awareness.

I guess, but that makes him seem all the more hypocritical for nominating other people for being 'boring' and rightly or wrongly I think she genuinely believed they got on pretty well in the first few days. I know he was just using the reasons he had to but to the others he must have seemed quite rude as well, normally in live noms they'd probably apologise for it or qualify their choices by saying 'I still think you're a nice person' or whatever, which if even if not genuine at least shows a little bit more sympathy

I agree to an extent but even if the Hazel comment wasn't meant to be malicious, I doubt Hazel would see it that way. She'd likely be quite upset by it, especially as Sallie is probably the closest to her in the house so far. It was a bit self centred at least if not malicious. And yeah, clearly lacking in self-awareness.

Kizzy 19-06-2013 10:32 AM

The hazel comment is interesting in that sallie may be right, hazels boobs might be on show more?...
However it's the personas of the two girls that differ, hazel is just more self assured and comfortable in her own skin and sallie wields her 'assets' and her femininity like a weapon.
Her sexual aggression is what some find uncomfortable, proclaiming you're a tomboy whilst overtly displaying your breasts is somehow a bit primal.
She is challenging the women and the men of the house.

Tom4784 19-06-2013 10:34 AM

She's just too dominant and annoying.

I don't think Michael cares one bit about what any HM says to him, as for him it's his job to cause conflict, division and subterfuge. He is very happy to be in the position he is in as he is not actually playing any real part in the show.

I think last years CBB with Speidi gave the producers the idea to put into the show someone who the other HM thinks is a complete maverick and use him to create mayhem.Good idea but cannot continue for too long...
