Show bosses could be in tears as it loses 1million viewers

Quote:

Tears are always guaranteed in the Big Brother house.

And on Wednesday night's show, housemate Sallie became the latest contestant to break down in front of the cameras - over a stain on her top.

Meanwhile, ratings for the long-running reality show have hit a new low for Channel 5, with just 1.23 million viewers tuning in.

Wednesday night saw Sallie getting upset as she soiled the very top she wanted to wear on Friday night for the live eviction - where she will find out if she has been saved by the voting public, or if she will be sent packing.
The tattooed babe threw a wobbly as the emotion of being nominated for the live

eviction took over.

Hazel and Dan tried their best to comfort their housemate, while Sophie tried her best to wash the stain out.

While it is unclear what Sallie will now wear for Friday night's eviction, she will be oblivious to the real drama surrounding the reality show - that hardly anyone is bothering to tune in.

Producers of the show have desperately tried to inject a bit of fresh life into Big Brother's tired format - including a double launch night, live streaming options, and the much publicized 'mole' contestant who the public can instruct to make life hell for the other contestants.

But despite the new tricks, ratings just aren't there.

Viewing figures reveal that the fourteenth series only launched to an audience of just above 2 million - with numbers dripping off since.

The latest figure for Wednesday night's episode which aired between 10 and 11 pm was viewed by only 1.23 million tuned in (with an extra 100,000 watching on 5 +1) - according to tellymix.co.uk

With the housemates blissfully unaware that not many people are watching their painful attention seeking behaviour, tensions have been running high after they were asked to anonymously make suggestions about each other.

A suggestion was made that former copper Dan 'needs to stop being so bitchy and give Michael a break.Your honesty and views are sometimes wrong and are making some of the group feel isolated.'

This lead to drama as Dexter later revealed he was the one to make the suggestion - with Sallie branding him a snake as a consequence and suggesting he was being tactical to avoid eviction.

But it wasn't all misery in the famous house, as the contestants were reward for their honesty by being given the ingredients to make a spaghetti Bolognese for their dinner.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, the housemates were in utter hysterics as one of the housemates broke their bed.

Jack - who is in the house along with his near identical twin Joe - accidentally broke his bed when he sat on it.

A little bit embarrassed by the situation, the housemate set about trying to rectify the situation as soon as it happened.

However the other contestants just couldn't resist having a laugh at the twin's expense.

They were all hooting with laughter as they took it in turns to inspect the damage - giggling and staggering around the BB bedroom as a result.

Everyone was up and out of their beds as a result of the hilarity - bringing some much needed lightness to the air following a first week of drama and tension.

BB always loses 1 million plus, except this year the lower launch has meant that it's lost less

Saph 20-06-2013 10:49 PM

Its a shame because this has been the best first week of any Ch5 BB so far imo

Jake. 20-06-2013 10:53 PM

And how is it a new low? :joker: God some sources talk so much **** lol

RodHull 20-06-2013 10:55 PM

I liked the bit where it described 1.23 million as 'not many people' personally

I believe a few series on C4 got less than this consistently during their whole run.

This makes me sad to read, especially considering how amazing of a first week this has been. Not a single boring episode to date, and I really think Channel 5 have put a lot of effort into the series, really listening to the viewers - from housemate selections, to bringing back live feed, to building a completely new and fresh house. It's such a shame because the quality of the show this year is not being reflected in the quantity of viewers.

It is not ch5's fault but it IS the daily stars (who own ch5) fault for shoving front page lies about BB to the public who can't be fooled. eg:saying the racist rant was worse than the jade goody rant etc... Total bull**** and lies just to sell papers.

King Gizzard 20-06-2013 11:03 PM

I don't see what's so bad about 1.3m, that's quite alot to be tuning into a show nightly

It's just a load of ****, the lowest BB has got on 5 is about 600K for Caroline's eviction (against the ceremony), and it'll pretty much average the same as BB12/13 in general...

It is now a very tired format and I cannot see the Non Celebrity version lasting much longer, the producers will probably concentrate on two CBB shows per year . At least this would give employment to failed soap stars, third rate singers, other reality TV actors and a whole host of ex models, tabloid nobody's and Z list wannabes ..!!!

JTM45 21-06-2013 07:53 AM

I'd watch the regular version of BB over the 'celebrity' one every time! I can't stand this new thing where they cancel the interesting, real people versions of things and just give us 'celebrity' crappy versions instead. I don't give a sh*t about 'celebrities'. Real (ish) people are far more interesting and watchable.

Nedusa 21-06-2013 08:20 AM

To be honest the people on both shows are mutually interchangeable !!!

Chuckyegg 21-06-2013 12:57 PM

You don't really believe the scum press and neither do I

Black Dagger 21-06-2013 01:01 PM

Least some of the Daily Mail commentors are appreciating it.

I was expecting it to be all thumbs up for '1 MILLION IDIOTS NEED TO GET A LIFE' etc.

Silly article, them losing viewers from a launch to a highlights show is expected.
