'Dancing on Ice' might return without Torvill and Dean?

Dancing on Ice may survive after Torvill and Dean's departure from the series, according to a report.

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean recently announced they will leave the show after the 2014 edition, with ITV boss Peter Fincham confirming the programme's end following their exit.

However, producers are said to be thinking about continuing the show with new professional coaches, according to The Sun.

A source said: "The show is still massive for ITV.

"But when Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean decided to go, it gave Peter Fincham a reason to get rid of it.

"Yet many at ITV Studios think that was the wrong decision. Jayne and Christopher leaving is a big deal and it will be incredibly hard to replace them - but not impossible.

"To say that they are the only telegenic skating pros who could fill the role would be wrong. So watch this space."

What are your thoughts?

Do you think they should carry on with the show without Torvill and Dean?

I'm a big fan of Torvill and Dean and think without them the show won't be the same! :bawling:

So it should in my view, they could make guest appearances if they wanted to, I don't see why the programme should end just because they cannot be bothered now.
There are loads of Ice dancing partnerships, they are not and never were the only ones.

I know there are loads of Ice dancing partnerships but to me no one can be as good as King and Queen of the ice and Legends Torvill and Dean. :worship: :worship:
I know some people will and will not agree through and thats ok! :)

I'm a really big fan of Torvill and Dean and just feel the show would not be the same without them. :bawling:

I do think if ITV wants a ice skating show that they should rename it something like Celebrities On Ice with a new format!

There is a tour called Celebrities On Ice with I think some Dancing On Ice pro ice skaters and celebrities who was on Dancing On Ice before.

Some people have said that Dancing On Ice has had its day like X Factor (Even through I don't agree about Dancing On Ice) so maybe a new name and new format and a whole new show will bring in more viewers? :)

I agree it would not be the same without them both! To me they are the show and I mainly watch Dancing On Ice because of them 2!

I don't know if I would watch Dancing On Ice without them 2. :(

They should do Celebrities On Ice with a new format and make it a whole new show! :)

No because even though I've gone off Christopher Dean and Torvill doesn't even speak anymore, they are a staple mark for the show, plus DOI has been bad for the last 3 series now so I think it should bow out before being laughed at by everyone.

I today found out my uncle used to play tennis doubles with Torvill.

idk anything about Dancing on Ice, just thought you'd all like to know :pipe:

Torvill and Dean come up with all the routines for the pro ice skaters and the celebrities in just 2 days each week for months! Aswell as their own routines too!

When the show starts there are maybe 11 or 12 celebrities and to come up with 11 or 12 routines in just 2 days aswell as their own routine must be a lot of pressure and hard work!

This year through they didn't ice skate each week apart from near the end of the group routines at the start of each show. But sometimes they did ice skate on their own together.

When the pro ice skater and the celebrities have finished ice skating, the host Phil will talk to them. Then Phil will talk to Torvill and Dean about the contestants performance.

Some people don't realise how much work Torvill and Dean do on the show and how they put everything into the show.

Christopher Dean lives in the USA and is in the UK for 6 months or more each year to do with Dancing On Ice and the tour.
Jayne Torvill lives in the UK and has to travel from her home to the Dancing On Ice studio each week for months.

Then they do the Dancing On Ice tour after the main show! Last year for the first time they hosted the tour!
Torvill and Dean ice skate together about 4 or 5 times. They added 2 shows each day to the tour so that would mean they ice skated 8 or 10 times each day! Also hosting 4 hours each day even through they never hosted before but they did a great job.
Each tour lasts 2 hours and the tour starts at 1:45pm and again at 7:30pm which is 4 hours each day. Not forgetting their rehearsals too!

They have worked hard on each series (9 series) of Dancing On Ice including 1 series in Australia too!

Torvill and Dean want to slow down a bit now but they said they will not stop ice skating together.
Maybe they might have their own tour together? I heard they and ITV are in talks for a new show? But I think they will have a less role in the (maybe) new show?
