Top 100 songs: 2000 - 2013 [#50 - #41]
I know Shaun normally does these kind of countdowns, but I thought I'd try my hand at one since I've I've predominantly lived my teenage years and adulthood from 2000 so have a fairly stable and varied grasp on the music from the last 13 years. I'm using a few sources, although not relying on them wholly as some rate some of the worst/most average songs among the best and I'll be using my own judgement, which some may be sceptical with but trust me, I'll be pretty reliable (I love Alanis but even I know she hasn't given one of the 100 best songs in the last 13 years). You may disagree with some of the choices, but tough. :tongue:

#100: Regina Spektor - Fidelity (September 2006) The second single from her 4th album 'Begin To Hope' has been her most successful song both in the US and here in the UK. Although it only ever reached #45 in the charts it garnered a huge increase in the attention to her music, and rightly so, she's an amazing artist and this song is truly a nice little one to sing along to. |
Beyonce - Crazy in Love
Rihanna - Dont Stop the Music Usher - Yeah 50 Cent - In Da Club Sean Paul - Get Busy Ciara - 1 2 Step Kelis - Milkshake Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body Snoop Dogg - Signs Destiny's Child - Say My Name BETTER be in the top 20 :nono: |

shame Ben has no taste and won't include it |
I seem to remember you hating Mr. Brightside? :suspect: Am ready to be mad at this list.

#99: Placebo - The Bitter End (March 2003) Okay, so diehard fans will moan that this isn't their finest work, and they would be right, it isn't, but it is still some of the finest work we have had in the last 13 years. From their 4th album 'Sleeping With Ghosts' it managed to peak at #12 in the UK charts; which at a time seeing the end of the reign of girlbands, the new obsessions with reality bands/artists and garage was quite an achievement. |
The Bitter End :love::love::love:

#98: Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love (October 2007) Shaun will no doubt hurl something across the room for me including this, and I'll be honest, I'm not a massive fan of her, but the fact that this song is one of the best (if not the best) selling singles worldwide from a reality TV winner and is actually not a bad pop song, I'd be silly not to include it. Peaking at #1 in well over 15 countries including the US (at a time when British artists rarely did that), her debut single proved that not all X Factor winners fade into the distance as soon as the show has finished. |
"alright mate"
"yeah do you like regina spektor" "yeah but she's no leona is she" already done with this list bye i am joking and will follow but that is a major error of judgment right there, you don't have to go with what was popular ben let your inner hipster SHINE |
Anyway this thread should just be called 'Bens favourite songs of the 2000s: WARNING - no other opinions allowed on my precious decade!'
