When it was announced that director Spike Lee was planning an American remake of the 2003 South Korean thriller "Oldboy," people weren't sure what to think.

The film centers around a man names Joe Doucett (Josh Brolin), who is held captive for 20 years immediately following the murder of his ex-wife, which he is the prime suspect of. His only connection to the outside world is a TV. Once released, he sets out to clear his name and discover who imprisoned him in the first place.

Remakes are rarely received as well as the original, but this is Spike Lee. He even put together an impressive cast. In addition to Brolin, there's Sharlto Copley, Samuel L. Jackson and Elizabeth Olsen on screen.

"Oldboy" will be in theaters October 25. You can check out the trailer below, but be warned: It's a red band video that contains foul language, a lot of violence and brief sexuality/nudity.

I have yet to Original movie in full , I have seen parts of the movies, this as actually been remade before not by Hollywood but Bollywood as the remake is called Zinda (Movies in on Youtube in full one link) the Bollywood film directed by writer-director Sanjay Gupta, also bears a striking resemblance to Oldboy but is not an officially sanctioned remake. It was reported in 2005 that Zinda was under investigation for violation of copyright.
