Jigsaws

One of my favourite things as a kid was doing jigsaws with my family at the weekend, it'd be something we would all do together... I really want to do a jigsaw now! Anyone else enjoy them? Where do people even buy them nowadays?!

Ohhhh I love them so much! In fact Gav got me one for Christmas last year, it was a really nice one of our 3 dogs (two of whom had died)

Aww that's so sweet Niamh! I'd love to have a jigsaw made from some personal photos... one of the best ones I did recently (well, it was a year ago) was a Beatles one and it was composed of all their different album covers so it was quite complex getting all the pieces together but it was really good fun, did it with my dad one Sunday, it was great :D

The are online jigsaws, I think.

It's not the same, there's something deeply satisfying about finishing a jigsaw after you've spent hours raking through puzzle pieces trying to figure out which way up they go and trying to make them fit... it's not worth it if your back doesn't ache afterwards

IF anyone is interested in the online ones, this is a good site, you can pick your shapes, how many pieces and pictures(even personal ones)

I hate them, I had little/ no patience as a kid and didn't sit still long enough to do them haha. My mum and dad liked to do them though, I thought it was the most boring thing ever.

GiRTh 18-07-2013 10:32 AM

LOL I see what you mean about physically ploughing thru the pieces and trying to work out it those blue pieces are the sky or the sea. I liked them when I was a kid too but I doubt I've got the patience to do a real one these days.

I love jigsaws, I've always found them really relaxing and quite educational as a kid. I remember I had one of the USA with all the states... so I'm prepared for "State Capital" questions in any given quiz! I have a spherical one that makes up into a globe. Haven't done it yet though...

Time to get cracking and then have a look at that last section of the quiz :pipe:

I used to like those 3D ones, did one of The Empire state building,it took ages and couldn't find anywhere to keep it so it's back in the box,I find since having the kids I don't have time for them.

I'm going... I'm going... God... you're such a slave-driver, Niamh.

Ooooh 3D puzzles, globe puzzles... you guys have way cooler puzzles than I do! I think I might go buy one at the weekend!

Josy 18-07-2013 11:04 AM

I liked them when I was younger don't really bother with them now though.

I watched my brother building his 3d globe one for ages and he was even gluing it all as he was going, he was so chuffed with it then he came home drunk one night and bumped into the unit it was sitting on so it fell and he then stumbled and stood on it :(
