Baby roasted to death in overheated incubator!

Quote:

A newborn baby has been allegedly burned to death after reportedly left in a faulty incubator in a Chinese hospital.
Graphic pictures of the scorched 12-day old infant have been made public after being released on China's equivalent of Twitter.

The tiny lifeless child has been laid out, face down, on a white blanket on a table; the baby's back and little legs are a burned dark brown and red. His little feet look sooty and singed.

Hospital staff appear to be mulling around the table; some take photos of the tragic newborn.

The pictures are so graphic that all the online news sites that have accessed them from the Chinese social media site, Weibo, have blurred out the most burned areas.

News reports claim the child died from an 'horrific accident' at Quanzhou Children’s Hospital in Quanzhou, Fujian province, in China's south eastern coast.

Beijingcream.com reports the baby was placed in an incubator overnight as a precaution since the tiny tot had a cold, according to relatives.

Hospital staff, including nurses from the ward, have refused to speak to the media.

Also, disturbingly, the Biejingcream.com reports that all surveillance footage from that night has apparently been deleted.

According to Chinese news site Guiyang News, translated by the Shanghaiist.com, the hospital is so far refusing to accept responsibility for the baby's death.

The alarming pictures are spreading across China and the rest of the world, after photoswere posted on the country's social media site Sina Weibo, also known as Wibo.

The site is becoming increasingly popular in China, where internet pages are censored and blocked by the state. On Chinese New Year the site overtook Twitter for having the highest ever recorded number of posts per minute.

Benjamin 18-07-2013 08:36 PM

Why do I need to put the country in the title? The story explains that it is in China.

Kazanne 18-07-2013 09:00 PM

OMG,poor little soul, the hospital dont seem to be holding any responsibilty either by reading the story.shocking.

Benjamin 18-07-2013 11:41 PM

Yeah, they are denying any part in it. Even deleted security footage.

Oh no, wish I hadn't looked. Absolutely horrifying.

But it doesn't surprise me at all where this happened, diabolical.

Nedusa 19-07-2013 06:01 AM

I knew this would finally happen, having managed to find a way to cook and prepare almost every type of animal and insect the Chinese have now turned to cooking babies for food.

Would anyone even notice ?

Livia 19-07-2013 09:58 AM

This is the country where baby girls are frequently dumped and left to die because they're not worth as much as boys, where they tie children to potties all day in their terrifying orphanages, and then tie them into their cots at night... Don't want to look at the pictures, there's enough horror in the world without more graphic images, and China is a leading provider.

Niamh. 19-07-2013 10:00 AM

That's horrific, I think I'll pass on viewing the pictures as well

Vicky. 19-07-2013 10:05 AM

Wish I hadn't looked at the photos

I always do that though, even though I know it will upset me

That sounds like me Vicky,I'm far too curious(nosey) to not click a link,,The Chinese are barbaric in their treatment of animals and children, pix are just shocking.

Marc 19-07-2013 10:21 AM

****ing hell, those photos are horrific.. if you're a parent: DO NOT LOOK

I hate the thread title, sounds so horrible :(

I won't look at the pictures, can't stand these things.

My own daughter was (needlessly) put in an incubator when she was born. She was full term, nothing wrong with her, wrongly diagnosed with an infection and stuck on a load of drips...

Anyway, basically an incompetent midwife put her in an incubator set far too high for a full term baby (set at the level for a severely premature baby) and also forgot to fill the water reservoir that provides humidity within the incubator. She was in it for about 5 minutes when *I* noticed the warning light flashing and went to get someone. It was turned down a full 5 degrees.

Obviously not the same as a faulty incubator actually burning a baby to death - but if I hadn't noticed the light, or just assumed that "the staff know what they're doing", my daughter would have ended up severely dehydrated and the consequences for a newborn don't really bear thinking about.

She was also overdosed on antibiotics - a nurse forgot she had already given them, and gave the same dose again. She had to be tested for damage to her kidneys and ears because of that one. Thankfully she was OK but it enrages me...

Just pointing out that it's not only in "strange, exotic, less civilized places" that medical staff are dangerously incompetent... they're not much better in the UK.

Was the baby not screaming? Didnt people notice? It's awful but you'd think someone would notice.

Sad story. So sorry for the parents

Samm 20-07-2013 10:16 PM

So sad makes me cry I am not going to look at the pictures

I can't believe things like this are allowed to be posted on here but not nudity or profanity. :/ (not a complaint about you, Ben, just tibb :p)

I'm not surprised that it happened in China either but where the baby's from has no bearing on the fact that what happened was truly horrific and painful for all concerned. Stop detracting from the subject matter with your pointless rambling about how titles should be.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if the link was appropriate, but thought I;d link it as it showed the full extent of the article. I did actually expect the link to be removed.
