If Woody Guthrie doesn't completely own this thread, then there needs to be some self reflection happening.

Glenn Campbell's "Wichita Lineman" is without a doubt in my top ten favourite songs of all time... gorgeous production, really haunting and sweet.

oh and nobody beats Patsy Cline for the ladies... Crazy is obviously her best, but Your Cheatin' Heart, I Fall to Pieces and Walkin after Midnight

it's weird, I really don't delve into country that much but the songs I've gathered from the genre tend to be some of my all-time favourites (well... just Crazy and Wichita Lineman )
oh and I suppose this too, but I dunno if it's country or folk. |

Nor do I. It's difficult to categorise country or folk, sometimes.
|
yeah, I think that song is probably folk but he's seen as a country artist too :blush2: ah well
|
not country(more folks/blues) but didn't feel like making a new thread. Tom Waits is so underrated

..I had to post this one just for the lyrics......
I wanna be the wind that fills your sails And be the hand that lifts your veil And be the moon that moves your tide The sun coming up in your eyes Be the wheels that never rust And be the spark that lights you up All that you've been dreaming of and more So much more, I wanna be your everything... |
