Thoughts so far
Haven't seen this thread made yet, so I thought I would make it and give my thoughts after the Launch Night.
As I said before, I really liked last years series just for the production value. And this has continued this year. But wow did someone watch BBUK 9 before producting this show. The divide may have been introduced in 2002, but the actual design of the house being in 2 is straight from that series. As is the married couple twist. I have to say though that I like it. The English Big Brothers borrow everything from each other (usually us and the US), as it is the same company. Plus I feel like Australia executes it a bit better. The halfway house is far more cruel than ours ever was. Other than the food thing. It may not turn out as good, but I am enjoying it for now. Its basically our ideas executed on a bigger budget and a bit more fairly. And I also feel like Australia stick with twists better. They did the Mole a lot better in 06 than we just did, and the couple thing makes far more sense (as in they have been matched up) than Mario and whats her name. Also love their main Big Brother voice. Much prefer when Big Brother sounds like "the voice of God" as opposed to some producer with a lisp. I dunno it may be camp, but its a glamorous sort of camp rather than the tacky camp that we have. Guess that's what a bigger budget can do. Oh and Tim? It's like Micheal from last year and Paul from 04 had a love child. |
Never really watched but just seen the launch.
How irritating the constant mention of twist reveal coming up, the next part of the twist coming up, the twist revealed, another part of the twist still to come, oh and actually there's this twist too, and another part to it revealed tomorrow. Goodnight. I really like the two doors and having divide from the start, that's how I wanted BBUK to do it one year. And I enjoyed the homage to BB7 UK with the chair but it's not as good as the original. |
Sonya talked way to much, and the "house divide" will properly only last a week so its stupid.
the "married" couple will most likely have to pretend and if they get called out they fail. if they get through the week with out being found out they will avoid being put up for nomination..? sounds about right ? |

Tully is a goddess <3 That is all.

I love it so far. BB14 can just be a distant memory for me now!
|
Loving it, ideal cast.
|
So far it seems like a massive improvement from last year. Ben needs to **** off asap though or else he'll ruin the series.

The couple twist is really hard to make work, as was seen in the British version. So I don't like it. It's better when there is a relationship but it's hidden, but they've done that a couple of times before at least on the Australian version. |
I'm really liking this years tbh, last year I watched the launch and got bored, but I really have high hopes this year. I'm loving Heidi, Tim, Jade and Drew, Mckayla and Tahan.
Loved that BB put rocks and notes in the suitcase. |
That's a good point. There are so many likeable people, who are also entertaining. The perfect mix.
|
People are judging the cast after 2 episodes?
|
Yes that's what people typically do when they watch TV believe it or not.
|
Tim is the best by far and thats not to say the others are bad coz there are a lot of good Houseguests this year but Tim is so entertaining, what a legend.

It's the best cast they've had for a while and considering Australia has never done the rich/poor divide (other than as a one-off task) I'm happy they've really gone for it this year - though it's annoying they're letting the poor HMs in the rich side practically everyday.
HGs are a huge improvement on last year and on the whole so far, so good. Hate the constant on screen tweets though, and bringing back Friday Night Live as Saturday Showdown is a poor move - from the sneak peak the new (recorded) version looks rubbish. |
Saturday Showdown is far inferior to FNL for sure, Gretel was way better than Sonia, and the Nominations Stupidpower is hardly much of a power. The cast though looks alright so far, I just wish BB wouldn't try and push showmances.

My thoughts.
I like that I can relive watching Big Brother Germany series 9. With a splash of BBUK 7 & 8 7 being the chair & 8 being Sam & Amanda. With it being BBDE9 It's Heaven & Hell Its been a few years since I watched it so....but Launch night HMs had to compete against another HM to determine which side of the house they live on. It's not completely the same as AU but something had to be done to determine which side you started on. Close enough. Reading the wiki. Germany changed the concept of H&H after a month to where nominated HMs moved over to Hell. Or if you were punished you had to go over there. So far in AU its just the nominated HMs. & I take it since noms are not final they will be taking the save/replace deal from the UK. I wish Sonia would piss off & 9 would hire Gretle. Saturday Showdown would be better if it was Live. I watched it & not minding missing Bree & Fitzy but at least have it live. & the twists, My Gawd. Why do the UK & AU think its makes a much better program with having a twist after twist after twist after twist. Neither house seems to be able to nom properly any more. This years UK had normal proper noms once? Every week has to be a stupid twist. AU has that very stupid superpower crap. Get rid of this garbage and let the HMs get on with it without nominations being manipulated/screwed around with week after week. Other than that, most of the HMs can go back home & get their nappy changed. They cry a lot for no reason. I keep getting disappointed with Big Brother after it moves to a new station. I really hope Promi Big Brother won't do the same to me =( |
This is the first BB Aus i've watched past the first 2 episodes and i'm quite enjoying it so far.
I really like the nominating with points system. It makes it far more varied and it makes it more difficult for little groups of twats to nominate the same like they do all too often in BB UK (just by 'tactical discussion' on the morning before noms). I was quite pleased with the outcome of noms too. Mikkayla was an obvious one. She's so bloody annoying!!!:bored: Quote:
Ben's a lovely bloke! I actually think Ben could have this in the bag already though. He's very different to the other housemates and comes across as a genuinely lovely guy. I hope he doesn't have annoying characteristics that haven't shown themselves yet because i'm really liking him at the moment. Go Ben!!!!! |
