James Cameron announces THREE Avatar sequels AVATAR Another planet ... the sequels will be released in 2015, 2016 and 2017 By IAN GARLAND Published: 02nd August 2013 GET ready to see loads of blue aliens on the big screen - James Cameron is making THREE sequels to his 3D blockbuster Avatar. The new films will be shot simultaneously, starting next year, and they'll be released in December 2015, 2016 and 2017. According to reports, the budget for the three blockbusters could add up to a staggering £650 million. |

Wow, sounds like it's going to be the movie equivalent of the Call of Duty franchise. Repetative yearly sequels.

The first one wasn't all that great.
Waste of money, IMO. The budget could go towards some much better written, better quality movies/tv shows. |
