Death Comes to Hadley Wood

The long cloak of death trailed in the leaves as he wondered the streets of Hadley wood, carrying his lap top (The powers that be had suggested he replace his scythe with it).

He was looking for someone......

He eyed up and down the street.

He saw the address he was looking for, and made his way up the path. It was in effect two houses in one, but split into an upstairs flat and a downstairs flat.

He was informed that a young couple were living together as if they were man and wife in the upstairs flat.

With his skeletal hand Death knocked loudly on the door to the GROUND floor flat.

An elderly gent came and opened the door.

"Are Mister Reaper" said the gentleman "You have come at last about our arrangement"

Slowly the Death nodded his head.

"Just a few formalities before we conclude things"

At this, Death pulled a sheet of papers from his cloak and passed then onto the man. The gent looked at them and grunted.

Deaths bony hand reached into his cloak andproduced a.....

.....cheque

"Oh good I assume thatis the deposit money and six months rent in advance. I am sure you will be happy here, and Hadley Wood is so conveinient for communting to the College for Angels Seraphs and Cherubs. If you ask nicely the young Mr C upstairs might give you a lift to the nearest Tube station"

With that the gentleman handed the key to death and left. Death clicked his fingers and his suitcases appeared.

He picked them up and lumbered into make him self home in the ground floor flat.

Death had finally come to Hadley Wood

and it was paid for by the college as well :elephant:

For those who have not been following the current saga of Death.

As a prophet of doom we work out the same office as Death, but he disappeared for a while and Mort his deputy took the helm.

There was a rumour that Mort had done him in. We thought it was true

Turns out Death is on a long term secondment as principal to the College of Angels, Seraphs and Cherubs.

Death's job back here was advertised on temporary promotion and Mort is still waiting to hear. For some reason the announcment of filling the post has been delayed. There has also been a new rumour of a reorganisation

----
Meanwhile Death is settling into his new home in Hadley Wood in a ground floor flat below that of a young couple living together .....:wavey:

Sticks, both you and ROB were doing absolutely beautifully on the Christmas interactive story begun on James's site. I would MUCH rather you carried on with it as I was enjoying it immensely.

I am sure you will understand that any talk of death around a young couple of whom I am particularly fond, upsets me enormously. :nono:

Erm, Sticks, forgive me if I don't enter into the macabre with you on this one.

It may just be tongue in cheek to you, but, I would just as soon not go down this trail of fantasy.

The very mention, in one breath, as Miriam says, is major trauma. :bawling::bawling:

Sticks, I prescribe one reading of 'The Tales of Beatrix Potter' , Busy Bee and my H&P Chrissie poems each day until the symptoms subside..........

Romantic Old Bird 19-12-2002 05:29 PM

Oh, and I forgot to mention, that downstairs flat isn't vacant.

Floss and Bunty live there. I am in receipt of regular bulletins from them which I may share at some time in the future...........

But I never said which couple

Anyway Grimmy to his friends is now working with those learning the ropes of being an angel, and helping them get their wings at the college for Angels, Seraphs and Cherubs

You can see the see how one of their graduates faired on the 25th December at 17:50 on BBC2 :hello:

Sticks 19-12-2002 05:46 PM

BTW2

I was waiting for someone to do the next chapter of the Christmas interactive as I did the last one, its the protocol of these things apparantly :dazzler:

Your such a happy chappie Sticks.:nono: That's well over the top, especially for this time of the year weather you believe in it or not.:nono:

susieq 19-12-2002 09:14 PM

Not funny, not funny at all.

That's more than a step too far, that's about a marathon too far.

PS: I don't think this is the right thread either. This is 'ROB's Little World'. ROB's world is for lightness and love and such like, if you want to carry on your role as Gloom & Doom Merchant Sticks, please move this to another thread, I don't particularly like to see it here. (All parties, please excuse my presumption).

I suggest you go to church Sticks and do a bit of hard praying. Sticks you know people love Paul and Helen on this site me included, I'm getting sick of reading about your fascination with Death and all things miserable. For your information being visited by death is no fun for anyone, and for someone who moaned about us enjoying Halloween, which is a time taken in fun, I don't get your sense of humour on this one at all. So for a change I'm going to do a bit of finger wagging at you.:nono::nono: Do us a favour Sticks and lets see a few more :spin2: and :spin:and:xyxwave:instead of :nono::mad:and:conf:Thank You

Sorry if anyone is genuinely upset because of a loss they have suffered, but The title "The Acting Principal of the College of Angels, Seraphs and Cherubs finds convieniently placed lodgings in North London" seemed a tad to long....

In the above scenario, Grimmy is not visiting anyone. Nobody is dying.

Incidentally we hear he has been getting on quite well and has organised the Angels Carol Concert. He has even instituted a programme where angels go out in human form doing random acts of kindness. He told us it was nice to do something seen as positive for once.

Also for the record he was a firm supporter of Helen during BB2, and tried to help get Helen to win, more so than us prophets of doom who were split between Brian and Helen. I supported Paul then Helen and wrote withering e-mails to the tabloids to leave them alone.

Grimmy even stood up to the directors when they thought we were not being gloomy enough about them. Unlike Mort who seems to be Directors pet, and supported Josh. Boy did Mort Sulk when Josh got an even higher vote to evict than our mate Stuart, but I digress

It is said that the subject of death should never be brought up at this time of year, however this has been done before by authors to either augment the pathos of exploring our mortality, or tell an amusing yarn.

E.g A Christmas Carol - Charles Dickens.

The films "Jack Frost" and "The Santa Clause" , "Scrooged" (Rip off of a Christmas Carol I know but updated for the 1980's)

Even the "original" Christmas story featured death, as told in Matthew's gospel when Herod had all the male children in Bethlehem under the age of 2 slaughtered to try and wipe out the Christ child. (Commemorated on 28th December as the Feast of the Holy Innocents)

When there are calls that at this time of year we should not talk on such things, I am reminded of the song Do They Know its Christmas by Band Aid.

Quote:

But Say a prayer
Pray for the other ones
At Christmas time it's hard but when your having fun
There's a world outside your window, and its a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing there is the bitter sting of tears.
And the Christmas bells that ring there are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you.....
Yes people may be hurting because of the season and the loss of a loved one, but our squemishness can mean that these people are isolated because they do not feel like joining in the festivities.

For those who do find problems coping remember these guys are open 24 hours a day.

We now return you to the normal light hearted joviality of this section.....

Neither do I, susieq.

Consider it moved to 'Big Brother in General' section.

Sticks 20-12-2002 10:23 AM

What would be an idea would be a fan fiction thread which could include the ROB Threads as well.

We could also move the interactive story there as well.

BTW is there anyway the Christmas Interactive thread on the James site could be moved here, as it seems to have stalled and I need someone else to do an installment before I can do anymore.

It looks like our annex has become a back water :bawling:

Sticks 20-12-2002 10:27 AM

For reference here is the link to The Christmas Interactive Story

Someone please add another episode

razzle 20-12-2002 10:45 AM

I'm glad I didn't read this on Tuesday, the second anniversary of the death of a close relative.

Also spare a thought for the loved ones of a 21 year old known to me who died suddenly last week.

:bawling:
