''Vote to EVICT has helped increase ratings''

read this on a forum a couple of days ago.
ben frow wants to stick with it, because it increased ratings by some percentage or another.

is that even possible ?? LOL

surely if a voting system was to increase ratings it would be vote to save, as the more controversial shall be kept in?

i had the increase in ratings down to the fact they had emma and rylan as the show anchors, and they had a solid BB cast, and more news coverage than previous c5 regular series, not to mention more live feed.

i think the return of the negative system is going to shoot them in the foot at some point.

BB is an eviction show.

The housemates nominate who they want evicted not who they want to save. Why should the public vote to save?

If they change the nominations process so that housemates nominate who they want saved, with those getting the fewest votes up for eviction, a public VTS would make more sense.

Anyway if those who are responsible for C5/BB think VTE is better for ratings, it doesn't matter what we think: VTE is here to stay.

arent we the only country that uses vote to evict though ?

CaudleHalbard 10-08-2013 01:54 PM

We tried VTS.

Obviously it didn't make as much money as VTE. That's probably the real reason. ;)

YodaBB 10-08-2013 01:58 PM

BB13 ratings increased from BB12 & now BB14 ratings have increased from BB13, so I think Big Brother ratings were just increasing anyway & BB14 would have increased from BB13 whatever the voting system

well ofcourse it would.
i also find this voting system logic bizarre.

but my personal opinion will always be that VTS is superior. i dont think housemates without 'fans' should be allowed to sail on through the series, simply because no one would bother picking up the phone to vote them out.

CaudleHalbard 10-08-2013 02:21 PM

The problem is when nobody is particularly likeable. As in BB14.

With VTS very few will bother picking up the phone at all, so you will get pretty random results.

I don't recall Ben Frow specifically saying it was down to the ratings.

I think he just said it was down to the changes to the show aka new house, new hosts ect.

when and where did he say this sir ?

VTE makes Friday nights fun

CaudleHalbard 10-08-2013 02:48 PM

Vote to Win is the same as Vote to Save.

It would surprise me not at all if Sam wins BB14 as a result of VTW, although he should in theory be first out with the fewest votes to win.

Ben Frow never said the ratings have increased because of vote to evict process being brought back.

People enjoy the feeling of booting out someone they don't like. Pure and simple. :pipe:

I think its down to the characters they put in this year more than anything else. Good HMs = better ratings

and a dreadful final line up

Mystic Mock 10-08-2013 04:45 PM

VTS would've worked better if there was proper 24/7 Live Feed, that way BB just can't edit people out of the highlights to get the person they want out.

And also they should've had a 3 or more up for eviction every week system like they've got going for this series.

Agreed. Especially if (as I suspect) we lose Gina or Dexter this week. I know they arent everyones cup of tea, but IMO they are much better than the fencesitters/twins

Well i may be the odd one out but i hated vote to save !

CaudleHalbard 10-08-2013 05:23 PM

I think a lot of us are missing the point here.

The dullards don't get put up for eviction. So the debate over voting methods is irrelevant.

This series we've had Sophie twice up for eviction, if it was a vote to save she would've gone when Dan went.

The Dan eviction was artificial. No evidence either Sam or Sophie would have gone under VTS: that's just conjecture.

It is nominations that are the problem.

That just proves my point about last years finalists being boring even more.

I actually forgot about her lol.

Headie 10-08-2013 05:58 PM

Can someone please email him and make a strong case about Vote To Save? He clearly listens to and respects the fans, so hopefully he would make the change.
