Do you think it encourages others to watch BB if Ron gets backed
 

You know what the criticisms of BB are. That nasty people are backed. Many more would watch BB if good loud people were backed instead of being ganged up on to protect nasties and voted off first.How can backing Ron who is a proven racist as he has made so many racist comments through his career how can backing a racist like Ron make those who don't watch see BB in a better light and how will it encourage them to watch in future ?

I have never seen/heard anyone making the argument that many more people would watch if there were more good loud people in.

The British public notoriously votes out the villains at the earliest opportunity when it's a vote to evict.

I think Ron has and will brings millions more to the viewership of Big Brother

He makes stupid, ill conceived, comments - but NONE of us EVER do that, do we?

Sorry where is this 'proof' you speak of ?? I'm guessing you are actually referring only to your personal opinion that he "must" be a racist or he would not have spoken those two sentences for which he is getting all the grief from some (mostly white) people right now... please, if I have this wrong, list these 'many' racist comments here so we can learn for ourselves?

I really don't know you much just yet, but do recall a whole load of irrational and unjustified hate towards Dexter from yourself towards the end of BB too...

It would be a lot easier if posts like this where stopped because it's getting a little tedious to read post after post about racism. Ok he has been a bad mouth in the past but if you dig you might find bad things of the others as well. If you don't like him don't vote to save him. After all you are one of the ones that wanted vts. If it was vte you could vote him off. The more threads we see on this the more publicity he gets ergo the more his name is out there. These posts help him.

Totally agree chuff. His biggest failng is he tends to say what a lot of our generation think but won't echo because we understand protocol. It is a shame the younger generation can't understand that some of the over 50,s were brought up in an era that didn't censor free speech. I don't think he is a racist as if he were why would he be working for an arab consortium. He was wrong to use the n word but jokes about turbans and the like are not worthy of the slagging he us getting. Well for starters Ron is 'not' a proven racist anyway.
Also, he will draw people to watch the programme just as he is likely to have people who would prefer him not to be there, as with all housemates in fact.

So in answer to the rather unpleasant opening post as to its content,I would say yes.

He engages in racist humour/banter. But he also opened the door for black people to enter an all white game and was an advocate and support for those players in opposition to many others in the game.

I am in no way defending his humour, nor am I saying he holds no racist views. But I suspect he's done a good deal more to help build a more tolerant and inclusive society than he has to break it down.

Seems unfair to add so much weight to some passively racist notions, and so little to years of active anti-racism.
