Speed reading
Does anyone on here do this? I've been reading up on it and its very interesting. I have a terrible habit of falling asleep when reading and my mind wandering. This apparently could well be down to the brain becoming 'bored' because it is used to processing information at a must faster speed than the average person reads, due to subvocalisation.
This video, whilst I think the test is flawed due to you being more familiar with it the 2nd time you read, the methods I think are sound. According to the test (in the description of his video.) I was 4% slower than the average before watching the video. After watching and employing his methods I was 48% faster. The test - http://www.staples.com/sbd/cre/marke...der/index.html Do it before watching and read as you normally would, then after watching do it again. |
..I tried 'speed reading' a book once because I hadn't had time to read it before a book club get together..but I don't think I took the story in very well though...
