You win the lottery. What do you do?

Spawned from Ammi's question thread and I thought it would be interesting to see what you would do with a major lottery win.

Niamh. 25-09-2013 10:47 AM

Ohhhhhh, first I'd quit my job, then I would go on holiday somewhere exotic and tranquil while I make a plan on what to spend it on. I would definitely travel alot, a Trip on the Orient Express being top of that list, I would bring my friend from Australia with us cos she's always wanted to do that too. HHmmmm I'd buy some property as investments for the kids. I don't think I'd move house cos I love where I live but I'd buy some extra land from the farmer cos he own a huge field next to us and do some work to the house, get in a heated swimming pool, that kind of thing aaahhh, this is my favoutite subject

Marc 25-09-2013 10:54 AM

First thing I'd do would be to make a thread on TiBB about it.

Vanessa 25-09-2013 10:56 AM

Go on holiday.

Tom4784 25-09-2013 10:59 AM

I'd buy into some businesses as a silent partner to create a steady income and just be a man of leisure.

Cherie 25-09-2013 11:04 AM

First and foremost I wouldn't tell anyone how much we had won not even my kids as I wouldn't want them thinking they could sit around doing nothing for the rest of their lives. I would pay off the mortgages of all my close family and friends. I wouldn't quit my job straight away as I like my job and I wouldn't want to rush into a life of leisure and then find out I was bored. Would book up a trip and think about what to do with the rest, would probably buy a new car and stuff and donate some to charity, but it would need thinking about as a big win is so life changing and I'm pretty happy with my life..:conf:

Niamh. 25-09-2013 11:05 AM

Oh I would buy myself an Aston Martin as well

King Gizzard 25-09-2013 11:12 AM

get myself an accountant and someone to sift through the charity letters/people asking for money

as much as it would be ideal there would be no way on earth you could conceal winning the lottery in the long run

Smithy 25-09-2013 11:12 AM

Give a decent % of it to charity, family and friends, then live a life of leisure

Bloody hell, Cherie, you're way too level-headed. You've got money. The perfect time to make some rash decisions!

Jesus. 25-09-2013 11:16 AM

I'd hire a master thief to steal Annie's kittens. They should definitely belong to me.

Niamh. 25-09-2013 11:18 AM

Oh speaking of Kittens, I'd get myself another Maine Coon kitten to keep Sebastian company

King Gizzard 25-09-2013 11:20 AM

racism, again

I know, but it is something that is debated alot isn't it, sometimes I think too much money is more of a curse than too little. I would just worry people would treat us differently and that my boys might get lazy..:joker:

Stop it :nono:

Josy 25-09-2013 11:24 AM

I would buy a farm, see all of my family alright and then invest.

King Gizzard 25-09-2013 11:29 AM

i'd probably employ dave benson phillips as a house butler

Ramsay 25-09-2013 11:30 AM

Literally no clue

Marc 25-09-2013 11:38 AM

I'd definitely sort my parents out and my sisters. I'd keep my own share and decide what to do with it later, possibly travel.. car etc. I don't think I'd want to not work.. but work part-time

This piece of perfection.

Glenn. 25-09-2013 12:08 PM

First off, like Cherie, I wouldn't tell anyone what I'd won. I wouldn't even tell anyone I'd won the lottery straight away. I'd wait til it was in my account then decide what I was going to do.

Depending on the win I'd give each couple in my family a few million. I'd gather them all up and hand them envelopes with cheques.

Then I'd go away for a while. My first stop would be either California or LA. Then I'd travel America, buy some property in Florida, pop back home for a bit then travel to Australia and New Zealand and make my way back home traveling through Asia and back through Europe.

Livia 25-09-2013 12:10 PM

I spend a bit on making a misery of the lives of people who've jerked me around in the past. In fact, that would be my new favourite hobby and I'd go out of my way to pursue it.

Ammi 25-09-2013 12:20 PM

..hmm, I'd make sure the boys were ok, but not so that they never worked or valued it...a few friends/people I know.....I'd probably buy a house in France, a vineyard maybe...wear big hats..go barefoot..and just spend every moment with the love of my life....

smudgie 25-09-2013 12:21 PM

I would never tell anyone how much I had won.
Then again, I would just like to win the million pound raffle, enough to sort the kids out house wise, buy a little holiday cottage and let hubby retire. Might even double my kitchen in size. yeah, the million would just do nicely...I do not want to be rich. I love my life the way it is really.
